Where did I say that I live in a perfect world?
Perfection is an ideal few would aspire to.
I have lived in China for over 3 years now and thought it would be opportune to offer my view on how the crisis was dealt with here. At the outset, I was of the opinion that it would be another China based outbreak and waited for it to pass. When things became more serious, I was waiting it out in Bangkok and had to decide to return or not. In the end, I came back as most of my friends thought that the situation was improving.
I think the conception of this in terms of "free and oppressed" are quite irrelevant regardless. I would think that many ethnic minorities in the USA (such as the African-Americans) don't exactly feel fantastic about their putative "freedom" now with the poor healthcare system and skewed death rates in their communities.
^^A good start would be to curtail the 'moth to the flame' like tendency to elect abject morons and the psychologically unbalanced as leaders.
In better times one can be amused by the prevalence of the apparently brain-dead on TD who favour such people.
Even just a few short weeks ago battyboob's thoroughly nutty approach to immunology was raising cackles of laughter across the board.
Well it seems a long time ago now, and it's getting tougher to laugh.
I think before you start blowing the chinky trumpet you should note their previous record on yooman rights especially in regards to disappearing people who threaten them, as well as the high probability that they are lying through their bat-stained teeth about the number of people in China that have died of this epidemic of their own making.
There is "oppression" and then there is "oppression".
Indeed.
The enlightened and exceptional West has struggled [outside of OZ/NZ], from the start, to get a handle on the bug.
Preparedness protocol and rather ignorant populations have lead to a disaster throughout Europe/North American - in comparison.
And still spreading/climbing to date with no seemingly end in sight.
Just have to look at the numbers - outside of China [who contained it in a couple of months] - and they're dwarfed throughout all of Asia.....and diminishing as we speak.
The preparedness and take action models from [examples] South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore were not learned from and the West is greatly suffering because of their inability to get it.

Not apologising for the re-education/concentration camps in China as you well know. I think a lot of those Uighurs will be/have been pressed into crowded working conditions in factories to get the Chinese economy up and running.
Not really understand, why the problems in the world are always, blamed on the Chinese or Russians.
Just look at our own countries and the shit their involved in.
Well no, but what you did do was compare how things have been going for the most disadvantaged groups in one country, and compare it to how things have gone for the most privileged in another.
Trump would like to see the press muzzled in the US as it is in much of Asia, that's for sure.
I'm hesitant about believing a word that comes out of China, personally.
Korea is more of a model imo.
As for Uighurs being overworked, that seems to be the very best they could hope for.
You ask my frien you.
I think speak more good than you.

I'd say listening to the fellow members residing in China, I know which part of the world I'd rather be if another Pandemic kicked off.
