Has your Schedule Changed Much since COVID-19?

It seems that the days are just flying by even though nothing too exciting is going on. No school or having to get up early for myself or my niece. I tend to go to bed extremely late and sleep in pretty late as well. I don't know about you, but I've kind of lost track of the days and my schedule seems screwed up. If you are working from home, maybe that is a new thing for you as well, like as my friend is. She said she is not used to wearing yoga pants and ballcaps to work. I'm trying not to pig out and ruin my strict diet, but I've made a few slip ups here and there. It is easy to get lazy at times like this. Imagine when people actually have to go back to work or school. It will be chaos. This may not happen for a long time!

Any major changes or upheaval to your daily activities or schedule?

I'm off work furloughed till 1st of June on 90% wage.

Sick of the news and web.

Playing more music and spending quality time home schooling my children.

Also done a fair bit of DIY and gardening.

The dog doesn't wag his tail as much, knackered from his 1 hour walk/swim every day.

Drinking and eating far too much

    I'm still retired.

We're not going out and about as much, but that's fine.

Home cooking is improving, and the house is spotless.

    All positives, really.

This whole year back to last September has been a mess. First, on the compound there was a big fire that burnt down the gym and closed the pool. Then it was chaos at work as management chopped and changed policies weekly. I got saddled with a double shift (but, ka-ching). Came back from mid-year break...same old chaos, but fortunately got a tidy little earner off-site away from the office. Covid-19 makes an appearance and it's been lurching from "What the fuck?" to "What the hell" to "Whatcha gonna do?".

    Jeez...
    pues, estamos aqui

Neat thread! I'm trying to stay on my normal schedule, with a few tweaks. Get up around 5:30 and hop on the exercise bike for 45min, breakfast, shower and to the laptop. Trying to split the time between online lesson prep and reading for uni. So far, so good! I'm enjoying having time for a slower lunch without the usual pint sized Mongolian wrestling matches to break up. Going easy on the booze during the week now, it got a bit out of hand at the start of all this. I always make time for an afternoon walk, that keeps my sanity. Beers with friends on Saturday night, our lockdown is not in the strict part now.

I get up about 7. Have a cup of tea and let the dog out.

And then I start drinking which continues until about midnight.

    Repeat.

Quite looking forward to working again even if it is online.

    Nope nothing changed here.

Leave home 6am... work all day then home at 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Next week off as per Songkran week, then back to work on the 20th.

Zoom meeting with the faculty are more frequent than any in-person interview we have had. Luckily with zoom I just turn the cam of and claim it's broken. I swear their online etiquette is worse than my students.

I am now working 100% remote. I had to make a choice to either stay in Sattahip or go home to Lampang. Easy choice quite frankly. Honestly working remotely is pretty easy for me and I like it much better.versus sitting in at the factory in an office. I have a well established Thai team that work quite well with a few conference calls and voice message through Line or Whatsapp. Being my role is global I find my day after 10am - 6pm is mostly support of requests from the factory which I can do in my phone anywhere. Most of my con calls are early morning and later evening. I hope that when this all settles down I can continue remote operations.

As for being home, Its great. Every day is something a bit different. I hate daily routines. Makes people a bit weird and far too structured. I am eating less but that's because its so hot recently. I always eat less and drink more water during summer. I am currently teaching my niece every day how to ride a scooter and drive my truck and my other younger niece who comes by I teach English to for a few hours. The rest of the day is whatever. Going out is still pretty open up here. Just have to make sure you wear a mask. Many businesses still open so no shortage of shop supplies or getting things I need.

Only real downside is having the beach condo paid for through out the year and I cannot go to it near term.

Full time work from home. And it has been tough. Mainly because i normally work with a dual screen computer. Nearest i suppose is one screen input, one output. Working on a dinky single screen laptop is toothachingly frustrating. But i knew it would be, so ten days ago i ordered a second laptop on line. Not ideal, but probably enough to make it doable.

So, no delivery so far. Having had enough, i tried several ways to get in touch with the vendor, power buy. Finally go through on live chat. Basically the person said i would get it in 5 to 7 working days. When i pointed out that i had already been waiting ten days, they advised me to contact Kerry, and click. Checked out the on line tracking, and kerry had no record of my order.

Fine. Fuck it. Plan B. Got permission to take home a work computer, different permission to enter the building which is on lock down. Fine, took the boy for heavy lifting, grabbed the compuer from work and took it home. I literally, and i mean literally just put the work monitor on the makeshift desk when we got a call. Kerry delivery due in 5 minutes. Yup, a laptop, printer and other peripherals were delivered within ten minutes of me getting home with the work computer.

Sigh. At least i can hopefully get something done tomorrow.

Man I feel ya. When I knew I was going to bail out, I grabbed both Lap tops, 30" monitor and my printer. Now I have a command center at home

Probably the most productive 2 weeks I have had for years product design wise.

Suits me fine at the moment as long as I remain busy.

A fortnight ago we were told to take a monitor home (we run laptops with dual 27 screens)...just in case..

I have a 55k tv here that I bought a month ago for youtube and xhamster duties in my home office... cost me 9k.... work great split screen as a dual monitor.

I teach science online from home anyway - so no changes for me, except that my 5am jog has been curtailed. I teach 3 hours in the morning, then have a break for about 5 hours, then another 3 hours in the evening. In the middle of the day I pop to the supermarket, (usually via a roundabout 3Km route for exercise). I watch a lot of old British comedy on Youtube (Are you being served, Father Ted etc). I'm actually in a bit of a timewarp as far as TV is concerned....

You watch porn on a split-screen? If I did that, I wouldn't know if I was coming or going.....

It is impossible for me to work from home. Custom hardware and software that can only be developed on site. My colleagues are currently having to work reduced shifts and are unable to communicate with each other in a way that would allow things to progress easily. It's a farce and I am happier well away from it until things return to normal.

More early morning starts. Fruit ripening, mangosteen and durian, inspections, planning of the cutters and porters work areas, ensuring the buyers are eager and availability agreed. Food prep, cooking and delivery to the workers.

FIL seems very happy, high prices holding and multiple buyers, many from south Thailand I'm told.

Early afternoon rains bring most activities to a close. Back home for cooling showers another meal and early nights. Should last a few months, the FIL grows different types of durian which grow and ripen at later times. Then its fertilising, irrigation system maintenance, watching the deluge and infilling any older trees with replacements.

    The cycle, with enhancements, continues.

My move to Thailand was a great change. Many new skills required, challenges to overcome. Long may they continue.

    That is hilarious!!!
I find the platform Zoom very good though..it beats Skype. I was teaching online from four months teaching adults, but that's done now, sadly.

Thanks for the input, guys. Many negatives and positives for some of us, but at least we are still alive and kicking and have to make the best of a bad situation!!

One schedule issue is that everyone else is on different schedules and they are not forced by the normal hours of school save for bi-weekly online classes via Google Meets (school was not happy with the security issues with Zoom). I am a very early riser and this is kinda working for me, I can be by the computer before six and done with my studies before noon. What gets on my nerves ( and I guess it shouldn't) it night owls sending me queries late into the night. This isn't students or parents, it's fellow teachers. I don't want to talk about students after 10pm, I just want to take it easy and hit the hay.

^Yes, that sounds annoying. Can you not turn it off when you are done using zoom or exit out? I remember in China when some of the teachers wanted to use wechat for parents...oh boy, the parents never stopped messaging even at night.

Going to be a very long Easter weekend! I may have to take to the bottle after all these months.lol
Forgot to add that I got the government emergency money today.. $2000 for doing nothing.. not bad at all. Now I can pay some bills.
