A Little Hope in the World

(All Will Be Well) in Italian made by kids in Italy posted on doors and windows now viral around the world.

‘Everything will be all right:’ Italy's inspiring message of hope in rainbows an example of how we should talk to kids about coronavirus

Colourful pictures of rainbows popping up in windows, balconies around country under Lockdown

Italy has been under a nationwide lockdown for nearly a week, due to the country's skyrocketing COVID-19, or novel coronavirus, cases. Along with quiet streets and empty tourist spots, colourful pictures of rainbows have been popping up in windows, balconies and doorways around the country.
Made by children, the pictures have the words, “Andrà tutto bene,” which translates to, “All will be well or "Everything will be all right.”

Cristina Federici, who lives in Boville Ernica, Frosinone, Italy, and has family in Caledon, said the pictures are to try to limit the fear in children.
“Some children have seen people, maybe even a parent, being taken away in ambulances by people in total white jumpsuits. Not a great sight for a child,” she explained.

Myself and my niece are going to make rainbows today and post them on our big picture frame window in the livingroom to spread the msg of hope. Maybe you can do this with your children. My friend said she saw many of these in the window around her area in Quebec.

^ my kids are bit old love , i think its a great idea and the Italian singing out the balconies to each other is so typical and wonderful. I think some of these trends will go global and is a big smile breaker imo. Be funny if they could do a global wave screened from above on drones.

Yes, I agree it would be cool if they could do that. It is raining all day here today, time to make some rainbows... I think Buttfly may enjoy this activity.

^ Yes very much so we all find ways to cope.

Seriously. I work with kids, not all the time but i am mandated to devote 8 hours a week to them, kids...24 up but kids. What i miss is teaching them and have a real zest for it. Before this really took off at the start they kept on their phones in class just worried because of the chatter on the Social Media and i had to shout a couple of times...asked them what was the problem and stopped the class - we talked and there was a lot of fear. Not sure when i will take a class again or if they (or me) will be there. Its a sad time.

Aww, I believe it. It is a fearful time for everyone and kids must be totally affected. A week of March break here has turned into an unknown as to when they are going back to school. I miss teaching, I miss kids, and it just sucks. These kids in Italy are inspiring is all I can say. Kids are stronger than we give them credit for and not stupid either.

I can confirm that those rainbows are on display in England, or they are where I live anyway. As for "All Will Be Well" very true words. There's no doubt, sadly, some people will suffer but for the majority life will go on. Same same but different. Naturally in times like these humour has a role to play and one of the best examples I've seen so far is some slogan type thing that read something like this:

"Your grandparents were sent abroad to fight in a World War.
You have been told to stay at home, sit on a sofa and watch TV. DO'NT FUCK IT UP."

    ^Nice one!

Myself and my niece made a rainbow after dinner. She made the outline and I helped her color. She wanted to put her own quote on it. She is very creative when it comes to art, so it was fun.

It has a double meaning as it rained all day.

...the rainbow was always meant to be an inclusive symbol...it's just that *some folks* didn't want to be included with *the other*...

    MM ... it's not you.

For some reasons unknown, the Forum Software changes Images to one with the same extension from an earlier date.

So, if your photo is named ***.***.1, then it gets changed after a while to an earlier image with the same extension.

Nev ... sorry ... Admin knows, but there seems no immediate fix.

Like usual ... no-one is screwing with you.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

...she's irresistible catnip for a number of misogynist posters who smell blood whenever the poor creature puts her toe in the water...they can't help themselves...

AO ... I'm just a Broad Church sort of Guy and like to see the positive in (allmost) everyone.

I 'don't see anything in her', she's a Member like everyone else.

If she posts shite that no-one is interested in, no-one replies and the post dies and withers on the vine.

If someone was giving you shite about something, I'd quietly stand behind you and have your back.

    ---

For me, all the this rainbow drawing, holding hands around the campfire is a crock of shite.
I teach my kids the reality of the situation, wash your hands kids ... yes, with soap ... no Johnny, don't touch that ... but that's me, pragmatic, realist.

Others like to show solidarity to a cause.

Naturally, I'm not a negative person, so I didn't post on this thread, kept my opinions to myself ... untill you asked
