Well one thing for sure. Whatever happens, in the future the current generation will have stories to tell their grandkids. They/we are living through a moment in history. Not necessarily a GOOD thing. Just a thing.
But I think the slowdown might be good for people in general. Maybe give people a chance to think and consider other perspectives.

Work suggested I could get a repatriation flight back. I politely informed them the current contract was too crap for that. I'll stay at home here thanks while they consider how they can make it worthwhile for me to return.

    Cheating fookers can wait.

Tough as old army boots, congratulations.

Is it your turn to spray your partner down, in the garage?

Get the certificate framed and on your dining room wall.

Did you bake a celebration cake?

Apparently you can cheat having a high temperature by sticking a peeled garlic under yer armpit before bed time?

When I wanted a day off school many years ago I would stir the thermometer in me mum's cup of tea when she wasn't looking... but it's a delicate operation. If the doc hears you have a temperature of 120 degrees F the ambulance would come pretty fast!

There are now about 6/80 people left in my office, the rest working at home, so I have lots of peace and quiet and plenty of space to move around, got the Echo Studio booming out some tunes and no fucker raiding my coffee and sweets stash which is nice.

    Why would I . . . and she's my wife, not a 'partner'

Here the producer of high end gossip rags about important world events like Royal fashion and Celeb relationships has shut down.

Their target market was mostly old ladies so prolly no point carrying on now that they're all gonna die.

I used to rub my tongue against the thermometer, hoping the friction would raise the temperature enough to warrant some extra time off or tlc. Problem is, when I did get a positive it was due to genuine fever.

A few guys I know tried to get out of military service by standing on one foot for hours before inspection - or swallowing lots and lots of sugar

Some things I've noticed since lock down just sitting around the home and walking to shops etc.

I can hear music in the Gardens.
I can hear families playing together.
I can hear happy people together.
I can see people more likely to acknowledge you and greet you.
Shop workers are more helpful, even though they tell you about social distancing though they and co workers are huddled together, hmm.
I'm talking more on the phone to the kids which is a positive.

This lock down has its positives, pity it don't pay the bills.

Yeah, everybody's positively thrilled with the current situation.

Apart from the thousands of deaths, millions of job losses and worldwide lockdown, what's not to like?

    You're beyond idiocy.

I was thinking about this and it occurred to me that one of the annoying things about dying is that the world carries on with the never ending fascinating story of a hyper-intelligent species figuring out ever more amazing stuff about life the universe and everything but you don't get to see what happens because you are dead.

But if humanity is really about to unravel and go extinct or even descend into an apocalyptic downward spiral for aeons due to a virus then at least we get to be the ones who were there to witness the end of the story and enjoy the pinnacle of human civilisation's achievements and there is no party going to go on without us after we shortly meet our spluttering coughing wheezing pneumonal terminus.
