You're talking pure BS. My data came from The Lancet, (that publication with data and academic papers from real doctors).

Are you suggesting that Wuhan virus deaths are going to overtake deaths from TB? Daily TB deaths were 3,014 on 9th March, compared with 56 from Wuhan virus on the same date.

I'm sure the number of fatalities from that virus have increased since 9th March. But unlike TB, this is a transient sickness. It's not going to kill 3,000 people every day of every year.

Sheesh! Some people love to panic....

Anybody had known about this? I have missed it, too bad...

Catholics worldwide pray with pope for end to coronavirus pandemic

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Catholics around the world joined Pope Francis in praying the rosary on Thursday night to ask God to end the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more people in Italy than anywhere else.

Italy’s bishops asked the country’s Catholics to say the rosary in their homes starting at 9 p.m. and to put a lighted candle in their windows in a sign of national unity.

The initiative spread on social media after it was announced earlier this week and many Catholics around the world joined in.

Francis, who is secluded in the Vatican and holding his general audiences over the internet instead of before crowds in St. Peter’s Square, broadcast a video message over television as the praying began.

“In this unprecedented situation, when everything seems to be vacillating, let us help each other remain steady in what really matters,” he said.

Italy’s death toll from the coronavirus overtook that of China, where the virus first emerged, as hospitals said they were being overwhelmed and the government prepared to prolong emergency lockdown measures.

A total of 427 deaths were registered in Italy over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,405 since the outbreak surfaced on Feb. 21. China has recorded 3,245 deaths since early January.

Last Sunday, Francis ventured into a deserted Rome to pray at two shrines for the end of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Vatican has said his Easter services will be held without the public for the first time.

    FTFY

So, anyway my good friend "Stoopid in Seattle" - as you live in arguably a Covid hot spot, and you have immediate family in the at risk group - what steps have you and your family taken to minimize your susceptibility to the Covid pandemic?

or, Perhaps, as many respondents to this thread - you are doing squat?

Your information is Tweeter BS and is excactly what WE DON'T NEED. All your BS of that we have to die someday is o.k. But we do have loved ones that we care about. STOP READING TWITTER! You are better off reading TD and make your own judgement.

P.S. some idiots here claim on TD that the covid-19 has not affected them yet. Either religious nutters or High School drop outs

Got a couple of olds a few houses down the road and whilst there are now OAP slots in the supermarkets specifically for people over 60 i popped round and asked if they needed any shopping, they don't have family or cars. They said they'll pop a list through the letter box, just hope there's no adult nappies on it

Hunkering down here in the sticks.

The gyms are closed. No yoga or Zumba class for the foreseeable future. I’ll soon be waddling over the line from overweight to obese.

Planning on doing s lot of gardening.

All I worry about is if my mother’s declining health and the possibility of having to take her to the hospital.

Had a long convo with a young Canadian friend. He is infected in hospital. Only 43 years old.

Only the tip of the ice berg. This is going to go on for months. Moving into South America and likely will get into India and kill 10s of thousands.

Apart from losing any prospect of work and my daughter's school closing, living out in the sticks up in Korat I'd been fairly unaffected by Covid up until now. When I'm at home pretty much my entire life is in self isolation, doing shit in the garden with the dogs and the pond. Two school runs a day are my main interaction with the outside world.

I've had to come down to Bangkok for a couple of days and it's a real eye opener. The majority of people I would say are wearing masks, noticeably apart from Westerners. I've started wearing one when out and about. I've also started washing my hands all the time... in the embassy today the girl put on plastic gloves just to handle my documents. This Covid is being taken very seriously.

I had fish and chips at the bar tonight and even started wondering who had held the pepper grinder before me. I've never thought about stuff like that in my life before.

'The Lancet" doesn't appear to have any articles currently quoting, "Wuhan Virus".

    Some on:

"Preparedness is essential for malaria-endemic regions during the COVID-19 pandemic"

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/l...561-4/fulltext

"Health security capacities in the context of COVID-19 outbreak: an analysis of International Health Regulations annual report data from 182 countries"

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/l...553-5/fulltext

and others with a COVID-19 tag.

I wonder if you students think you are leading them astray intentionally ?

    Update:

    The first article from
'The Lancet" , dated January 24, 2020, was headlined:
"A novel coronavirus outbreak of global health concern"

Throughout the article the virus is identified either "2019 novel coronavirus or 2019-nCoV". Why change the name?

The label used to identify the outbreak was, "an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown cause".

Note, not the source or origin. Which both have specific medical definitions.
