Digging in for the long haul. New USB solely for obscure music downloads, a bluetooth headphone, and a supply of an aromatic herb said to make time go quicker and obscure music sound even better. She'll be right.
801 Live, Shahban Yahyah, Burning Spear, Amanda Lear etc- real Top 20 stuff. Never heard of Taylor Swift.
^But you've given me a thought- some J Tull. Ta.
H, 20 months now I have laid off the alcohol and done at least 15K in two walks daily. I have a can or two a night after my evening walk to "hydrate". But in all honesty have not been drunk in all that time. Never felt better. Physically and mentally. A two beer night is a happy night..
"Its five oclock somewhere was my theme song... Things change, this was a big one for me.
Was that TVAir Bookings?
I see Qatar are still operating outbound flights from BKK via Doha at reasonable one-way prices - 14,000 baht - and their booking portal is still accepting flights thru April.
I did ponder it for a moment but, frankly, which is best: quarantined by a beach in 34c with easy access to supermarkets, a nice balcony overlooking the bay and a fine vantage point from which to drink my beer until dinner, or ensconced in a dreary English suburb limited to one excursion a day to some supermarket and endless pap on TV and the prospect of the Tory government spouting egregious shite interminably - health wise, if the cytokine storm strikes you down it is pretty academic where you might be, your number will be up but, yes, if it comes down to a ventilator being available or not, then perhaps best if you are in Blighty rather than LoS, particularly if you have a pre-existing condition which I assume you have Tax with your incipient dementia and whippet's lung syndrome.
That's an alcoholic.
Yes, it was TV Air, and they were brilliant. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. They even managed to arrange for our luggage to be checked in through to Leeds. Normally a change of airline een route means you have to collect your luggage at the stopover and check it in again for the second flight. The Thai Inter flight was good, although the A380 looked as if it had seen better days, filthy carpets, bits of trim falling off, blinds not working and the toilets were disgusting. Helpful service though, Much like most of Thailand really. Was that TVAir Bookings?
BA staff at Heathrow were excellent.
As to which is the most preferable location to be quarantined in for the duration, well as a falang, a filthy unwashed virus laden foreigner, as I understand we have been described by a government minister, I would take the UK over Thailand. I would take Boris' daily chats anytime over the dumb generals ignorant hectoring rants, and I would take English generosity, the sense of fair play and the rapidly evolving community spirit that is happening here to the Thai penchant for greed, price gouging, self interest and nationalism that Im sure you will encounter if things continue to go downhill, and god help you should you need to visit an immigration office bursting at the seams with coughing burmese and sweaty cambodians in order to beg for a seven day extension to your permission to remain, along with any paperwork required from the British Embassy.
We are happily settled in our gaff, we walk clean rodent free streets to exercise, netflix, google and books keep us entertained at home and for one who has always valued a stable home life over the superficial loud booze fuelled socialising in bars and clubs, this quarantine is no hardship at all. In fact we both find it a welcome break from the incessant demands of socialising with acquaintances.
So lets hope this crisis passes quickly with as few deaths as possible, but I will see it out the English way rather than the Thai way.
We left just in time and are happy and relieved to be away from Thailand right now in these uncertain times.
Stay safe.
hydrating with 2 beers a night in a tropical country, is that how we call it these days for drinking alone and miserable at home?
stop stalking me you retarded idiot.
if you had even an iota of common sense, instead of wasting your days posting the trash that you are famous for, you would be making an effort to remove yourself and your precious fukking family from the lung and brain destroying poisonous miasma that envelopes the north of thailand right now.
^ He's to busy being a complete knob on TD......
Well the first of what will no doubt be many restrictions has come into place. Not allowed to travel on the roads between 20.00 and 05.00 allegedly. No inter Provence travel, and all land borders shut.
In a word, I is fucked.
Assuming it's true of course.
I don't think you know how forums work.Originally Posted by taxexile

You're kidding right? 2 beers barely qualifies as 'drinking', and what makes you think he's miserable? I love sitting on the balcony in the balmy tropical evening having a couple of coldies (alone).
You can't compare to drinking on a cold miserable northern European evening.
It's been more than a week of total lockdown here in PI, specifically Luzon island. Lockdown of Metro Manila 15 March, entire Luzon 17 March. Other provinces/ islands followed. Curfew from 8 pm to 5 am. Can't go out to main streets unless with village pass - only 1 pass per household. The gate of our subdivision (mooban) is locked, will open only during designated times. Same for other places. Only frontliners allowed to travel to workplaces. Checkpoints all around. When going out, ppl should wear masks. It's the new reality - TH is a bit late in enforcing the lockdowns.
Good luck re: your health, CJ. All the best...
