Ok how did it affect me?

12th February I was travelling to Taiwan for a 4 weeks Job.
02.March many people involved in the Project laid us down and also my relief was not coming anymore.
14 March my customer offered me a new contract if I would stay until the situation is getting better.
17th March, Taiwan, the EU and Thailand is closed and I am on a construction site, knowing that the Taiwan government extends my 90 days as long I got stuck, my Boss is happy I am here and the $$ clock is running day by day.. Taiwan has still the best health systems on the world, learned a lot from the SARS outbreak where the country got a huge punch,
some new corona cases that came in are contained right away before leaving the airport...

20 march, 2 colleagues took the risk as they needed their income to cover their mortgages, and are since 8 days (of 14) in government quarantine, everyone here is aware that it is an uncertain time, we got stuck here and as it look alike, the entire world lost completely the control about the virus...
My wife runs a self-sustaining aquaponics backyard system where she has permanently about 100 lbs of Tilapia, 500 greens/veggies, a few lbs micro greens and about 2000 Crayfish growing that will last about 100 days if she would not restock anything, but she continues and we have agreed that I stay as long I got paid and she bought a few gas bottles, 100Kg rice and lots noodles
    and does the same..
    Waiting the time to come..

At the 12th February I had some serious doubts to travel out of Thailand, but now I am one of a few lucky ones who has actually a huge benefit from all this panic.
The 4/4 weeks rotation turned into a permanent job with a good day rate, I am in an empty hotel in a considerably safe country and as everyone else I do my share that I am not much in public to stay out of the firing line.

Only bitter pill is that it is unknown when I am able to return home to my wife.
Even we are in contact by WhatsApp it is a pretty surreal feeling.
Close contacts I have mainly when once a month a ship arrives that brings project related stuff from Europe, hence about 4-5 weeks sailing without outbreak and the site is in a small closed port...

Some voices say already it might be that I am may be stuck till end of the year but still I am not following the news as I never have heard so much Bull**** than in the last few weeks.
No matching Numbers, rumors, Merkels who hold speeches that doesn't help in any way, Trumps that try to let develop vaccines exclusively for the US from German Pharma companies (obviously to make a big coin)...
Some even mentioned that is the new millennium war Nostradamus was mentioning. He new it was in the new Millenium but he didn't know with what kind of weapons the war was fought...

Lets hope for the Humans that the peace afterwards (That Nostradamus also mentioned) is not the result of the next mass extinction LOL what a Bullsh** goes into peoples minds nowadays.

Nose-picking should be outlawed on the BTS until this thing is under control.

Strict hand/nose/mouth hygiene is the key to defeating this dark mofo.

A raised newspaper is quite effective too, although these days people just put their head down into social media apps.

just bank the cash - even 6 months straight would be well worth it in the end and it is really not that long

better than the indian offshore roster of 1 and 2 - 1 year on and 2 weeks off

Which in my opinion is why it spread so quickly in China. Nose picking, spitting, not washing hands, not covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing. Disgusting assholes.

Perhaps the Italian kiss greeting exacerbated the situation in Italy.

I'm in a similar situation to See Will. I arrived in Oman on the 19th of last month. I've been working here in the desert for the last two years on a twenty-eight day rotation on a new build gas plant. On the 16th of April Oman banned all entry of non-Omani travellers. At the moment no one allowed to travel to site except for Omani nationals. I've been asked to stay until the situation improves & my back to back can travel back to site. How long this will be I've no idea. We had planned long weekends in Muscat every six weeks but the government has now shut everything, restaurants, markets, shopping malls & pubs. It's a pointless six hour journey to Muscat if nothing is open. So it's the desert for the foreseeable future.

Presuming you have supplies to trade, will not the local lasses be more accommodating?

^ At least you're lucky to be in the nicest pace in the ME

My wife saw that a testing centre had opened up just five minutes away from us . . . and sent me to get tested.

Arrived at the mobile testing centre and there were only 25-30 cars ahead of me . . . easy . . . easy . . . but three hours of waiting later I finally had the stick shoved up my nose, really further than I thought possible.

You never get out of the car, lots of paperwork and questions.

They'll let me know in a few days, they said, and gave me some self-isolation info.

South Australia has closed it's borders now- anyone who comes in from other states is in 14 days 'self imposed' quarantine. H'mmm, see how that goes. I would think some of the grey nomad campervan army might well want to be leaving the city, and camping out in the vast expanses of Australia. Much safer.

Just cars and pedestrians, no motorcycles and it was FoC and they did a type of triage with questions ranging from any symptoms you might have - dry cough, fever, shortness of breath etc... and the second part was if you'd been overseas.

After all that I was directed to drive to another building (no-one was allowed to exit their car) where they did the testing, compared notes taken earlier, asked a few more questions and then had the swab pushed up quite a way up my nostril. Two minutes later - done and drove home. I'd be contacted in a few days.

All in all just boring, waiting around, but some were getting anxious. I only had a slight cough but that's probably because it's quite cold here in the mornings now, especially compared to Malaysia . . . no pain, just a few seconds of discomfort

ScoMo has decreed- all licensed venues closed from midday tomorrow in Oz. People aren't sure if this applies to bottle shops, so there has been panic buying at Dan Murphy's-a discount booze chain. Restaurants & cafes, takeaway only. Fun is now officially outlawed.

Oz govt quite generous really- all welfare recipients will receive bonus A$550 a fortnight for six months, plus two payments of $750. Laid off people to be compensated too. But bugger all to spend it on.

Just got home to the house and we've decided to self-isolate (to a large degree).

Lucky that we've got a large private moo baan with private lake and park etc etc, so can still get out into nature every morning for exercise, kiddo picnics etc.

Will homeschool kiddo in the afternoons.

MM or I will do a supermarket run when the time calls, with kiddo staying at home with the other.

From what friends have been sending CM is going into shutdown mode.
