That has been my experience so far. I have no issue filling it out but most are all QR code registration so you just point your smart phone and walk in. Funny, my wife does the QR code then tells me to just go with her and the attendant just waves me on. My guess this process will end soon. Clearly it was a prerequisite set forth to be able to open the business which they complied with but will not sustain.

100% mask adherence was in practice.

^So, do you understand the numerous clashes and huge demonstrations (not in Thailand) against the masks?

Driving range had sign in and asked to wear masks and s temp check. Then soon as you got in no one was wearing one. They did ask us to keep the beer hidden though.

Here in the U.S. it's about "tyranny" and "I woke up in free country" type of nonsense. Like being mildly inconvenienced for a little bit to prevent the spread of a contagious disease is some sort of unacceptable oppression by the State.

These folks probably don't wear condoms, either.

Today hit our Big C Extra – time to replace the drinking water filters.

Often visited the Big C Extra. Four floors but I usually only visit the basement and first floor. The basement is, well, was, packed with sellers stalls – all the typical stuff you find in any mall basement.

Now Big C Extra Mall was closed, along with others on March 22ND and opened May 17TH, effectively a two-month shutdown. Today, eleven days post opening, the basement is open. The majority of the sellers stalls are gone and the floor was waxed to a high sheen. But, only about 20% of the space has stalls. A few empty stalls with open/empty display cases. And not really a whole lot of customers.

Very easy parking, lots of spaces, unusual, used to have to roam around for a bit till someone left. Got our temperature taken. Saw a couple turned away – no masks. Sign in log exists – being ignored. Did see a girl login with a smart phone scan. Nobody writing in the logbook.

Not many smiling faces – face masks and all… well, after we passed the entrance temperature examination I saw quite a few bare faces. Some vendors, and quite a few shoppers who had taken their face masks off. Nobody policing or complaining – nobody really caring.

Asked my water filter guy about all the empty spaces – he said they closed and will not return. They went bust, needed money to pay the bills and found alternate work. In his words the THB 5k stipend is/was a joke. Many don’t qualify and THB 5k just isn’t going to support a family.

This actually seems to be the re-opening scenario.

For lunch we hit a Thai local unknown outdoor restaurant – off the beaten path, no signs, so only locals who know about it go there. Restaurant was pretty full for lunch, as usual. No attempt at all for social distancing, 4, 5, 6 to a table, sitting next to and across from each other. No face masks. Even the servers, only one girl wearing her face mask correctly. A couple slung under the chin, a cuple hanging from the ear.

On the good side, I got our water filters changed, mission of the day, and the girls got a good deal on Nonthaburi Durian @ 4 kilos for THB 500.

A couple pix of Big C Extras empty basement. It used to be shoulder-to-shoulder.

You going to be ok with forced vaccinations too...if it comes to that? I'll wear a mask to keep the karens at bay...but letting billy gates and company stick a needle in me is a bridge too far.

Will you still be able to get insurance that covers covid19?

Speaking about insurance the latest from Thai immigration is really adding to difficulty entering the country. $100,000 health insurance which covers virus related treatment and a med cert from home country you are virus free.

That will probably be the least of my worries. I'm not even going to mention what tactic I think will be used...at least for some.

It appears for a similar problem, HIV - for which a '"cure" is still not available, insurance is available. It's really just a cost/payout calculation.

Can't see anything wrong with that, after what's happened to the world this complements other recent cunning immigration plans to restore the Thai tourism industry.

Yes, I would recommend a medical professional vaccinate you. Not Bill Gates or Microsoft.

I went to get the car serviced in Sakon Nakhon city today and a trip to the only shopping arcade, Robinson's.

Only people wearing masks at car service were us and the girl serving coffee. Not very busy, usual friendly service, and free wi-fi makes the wait go quickly.

Robinson's was not as busy as it was when the booze restriction was first lifted. Masks were worn by all and worn correctly by around 90%. Food places were open but we chose not to eat in. Food availability is back to normal, but is never as good as Udon.

We still had to sign in and out of the mall and some of the shops inside. I could get a sim card at last, but it is too late to bother.

No-one looked concerned about the virus. I didn't see anyone using the sanitiser, except wife and me.

I am more worried about catching the virus on the way to, or in, Germany than here.

I still think I caught the virus in January, on the way back to Germany after Christmas. I had the first of throats, blocked sinuses, and had to drink cough medicine like brandy and have two Tiffy every night for 10 days.

We took a trip to Udon Thani for the first time in 3 months, I needed to get an ear infection sorted at AEK.

The hospital was pretty empty, very few patients, and several normally regular doctors working part-time hours. I had let the infection get a bit out of hand, mainly due to not being able to get to the hospital two weeks ago and thinking things would clear up on their own. (They never seem to any longer).

We had a wander around the shopping mall, which was almost back to normal. Sign-in and temperature check on entry and going into some shops but the restaurants were open, although very few customers. It's the first time we have had confirmation that the civilised world still exists.

If we manage to get back to Germany at the end of the week it'll be a hard first 2 weeks. At least we have plenty of masks and sanitiser to take back with us once we are allowed out of the apartment. The main problem will be when and how we can return to Thailand.

Well, hit Makro this AM. Pretty much empty, temp checked at entrance. No sign in. Hand sanitizer available. Lots of distance markers on floor - not required. Shelves all fully stocked. 100% face masks in use. Calm, slow, unhurried, shopping. Shoppers not really paying any attention to social distancing. Nobody really caring. The storm is over.

Stopped at our gas station food stalls. Not one vendor wearing a face mask. Only face mask I saw was on my wife. Back to normal - the Covid crisis is over.

Hit the Westgate Mall yesterday, 100% face mask compliance. Had to sign in at the mall entrance and at every store we visited. So, seems the Westgate Mall and it's stores are putting on the Covid safety compliance show. The others have already slipped into non-compliance.

WELL all our future bookings have cancelled.
I do not hold out much hope of ever recovering from this hit.
I do need somewhere to live so i will continue to rent this premises and IF tourism ever comes back we maybe fortunate enough to get the occasional customer.

Personally i think Thailand has had its chips, Tourism won't recover to pre epidemic level and it will continue to decrease due to it becoming too expensive.

We do not get much trade from the long term expats so the fact that they are leaving as well won't hurt us that much.

And as we are not a major chain the new Government "Get a travel voucher" campaign will not help us our our town in the slightest.

Feel for you moose. If the suspected distancing is applied to flights then i cannot see how prices won't go up and that automatically will dial down numbers both due to physical limitation but also the price must have to go up. Given the Thai mentality their go to will be flood the country with Chinks - the futures bright the future is yellow.

this town is not popular with the Chinese, i have only seen a few here in the last 5 years we have been open.

our bread and butter were the Euro's who were looking for something less mainstream.

And i think it will be a long time till they come back in numbers or ever.
