FYI, we plan to process your order today and deliver as per your agreed delivery schedule. Please let us know if you have any questions? More info: 02-779-1000

Alcohol sales aren't banned in Phuket (yet), and delivery will be from my local Villa anyway.
    Well done Villa.......

It is quite uneven. My local 7-11 stopped selling alcohol a week ago.

KW will be pleased to know supplies have been secured. Got there 1/2 hour before opening when NHS & Essential workers are allowed in and was 10th in the plebs queue. A store chap walked around at 10 to 8 reiterating that NHS etc could go in but added care workers to the list and its amazing how many in the back end of the queue of c70+ by that time found they were indeed care workers. I have no doubt there were some but there are cohort of low rent scum in this country who would climb over their grannies to get ahead.

The good news is that as temp is climbing it is officially Gin & Tonic time and so with 3 litres secured Ron's prophecy of me getting caned by 1-2pm may well come to pass after garden chores, washing and speaking to the family etc have been crossed off the list. Who knows i may even resolve how to regain proper picture sizes and make another club member happy Lom.

I find it very quaffable, with the bonus of their being one of Man United's sponsors. If it's good enough for Sir Alex, it's good enough for me.

Filling up on gas for 16 baht a liter is something we could get used to.

If only we were allowed go out for a drive.

Sometimes 4 or 6 of them share an apartment which is 20-24 sq meters. For the security guards - tje lack of space isn't too much of a problem bcos they're on shifting schedule, so not all 6 of them stay in the place at one time. But most of these ppl don't have much money to buy food. They used to eat/ buy food in canteens daily. Now that most canteens are closed, they have to cook for themselves. Without a fridge or much money, they can't stock up on food.

Yesterday, when I bought fresh veg from the small corner store, I noticed that the other ppl buying seemed to procure less stuff than normal. One or 2 eggplants, a handful of string beans, etc. The lockdown (3 weeks already) is taking its toll.

Three out of 5 Filipinos belong to low income households. Got this infographic from my work group.

Apologies for any confusion caused by my post Katie. I am aware of the historic reasons for daily purchase of fresh foods. Even the fact that some households do have refrigerators, doesn’t stop the daily shopping culture. It’s also a key social component for many people.

Regarding poverty, it’s one of the main reasons I found it difficult to settle there. Children in rags begging, hands out,
at every 7/11 is not pleasant. It has nothing to do with comparative wealth, it’s just very unsettling for this foreigner.

I could not, in good conscience live there, and take advantage of such government apathy. I was aware of the very poor side of life there, but could not face such deprivation on a daily basis. It’s too big a problem, and I can’t do much about it anyway.

    great for cooking though,
New world wines are generally of very good quality these days. The French were left behind decades ago.

Agreed, a very drinkable wine and enough tannin to keep a good year as well. Only problem is wine in Thailand is over priced so I don't cook with it as much as I'd like.

If you're in Thailand, what's stopping you going out for a drive? I've driven about 500km this week.

^^ Not bad, did you enter other provinces without problem? We have extended family in Nakon Phanom province but have been advised not to go and visit. My private hospital is in Udon and again, we have been advised not to travel there. It doesn't mean we can't and I can have a Dr certificate if required. It is just advisory. Since we don't need to go anywhere we don't. Keeping ourselves to ourselves with as little outside contact as possible.

I'd have thought you'd be doing the same Nev, or is there a need to travel for work?

Yes, I did. No need to stop at all. There were cones on the road as I crossed provinces but cops standing at the side of the road did not stop anybody. Tbh, there were far too many cars on the road to be stopping cars and taking the temperature of people in the cars. There'd have been a tailback for miles.

Norts folks are dying everywhere, its just having a distraction and not dwelling on the darker side of life make all this shit a bit more manageable, that's my take. Life does go on.
