Checkpoints around BKK now and on the highways. They're not stoping people from entering/leaving but checking their temperature. Wife wants to go to Ampahwa to see her parents but I'm not keen on travelling .

My youngest hurt his arm this afternoon playing football with his elder brother.
The question was do we take him to the local private hospital for an x-ray. After putting ice on the arm for about 30minutes he was still in pain so it was off to the hospital. The wife was far from keen , especially if there ws nothing too wrong - scared of catching the corona virus at the hospital. I was not overjoyed either putting my wife and son into potential 'danger' Normally the hospitals up here are packed to the rafters.

The roads were not too bad , no roadblocks (the police had gone home for the night)
Upon arrival at the hospital a large sign said that Covid 19 tests were not carried out at this hospital but at the local government hospital. That pleased my wife We were met by a nurse on the door giving a good impression of a welder with a full face mask. She checked our temperatures and asked many questions (especially of me) about where we live and where we had been recently.
We were let in, details of the problem were taken and were shown to a waiting area.. I could see only 1 other patient waiting to see a doctor. I have never experienced such a hospital visit in my years in Thailand. The hospital was a ghost town.

The only bad thing was that the cashier would not accept my credit card - 'machine can not read it'.
Strange that it was not a problem at Big C 15 minutes later.

Oh and the visit was worthwhile. My son has broken his wrist (not badly) and his writing arm will be in a cast/sling for the next 3 weeks

Well Its affected me now, can't get back the mainland.

No warning or announcement just looks for flight, naff all until the 10th 0f April, seems I'm now supposed to be living on a boat, on a Marina.

I might just pull anchor and drift off into the channel and just slink away.

@topper - if you're reading this, pls take note.

I went out to have my water container refilled & to buy fresh produce. Owner of water station said we (our area) will be on total lockdown starting Sunday, no one allowed to go out of house. Even his shop won't be open. As such, I bought loads of veg & meat, hopefully enough for 2 weeks until the lockdown ends. I initially intended to buy enough for few days only. The past few days, the small fresh produce & meat stalls were open. I don't know if they'll be asked to close too. I haven't consumed my canned goods - will reserve that for leaner times. Still have lots of oats, rice & flour. I'll marinate my meats & make more kimchi - the first batch I made the other day was a success. The lockdown - it only began as a soft quarantine. Curfew 8 pm to 5 am. By Sunday it will be 24 hours curfew.

I don't know if these stricter rules will happen to your province, but take note that you're 2 weeks behind Manila/ Luzon schedule. Please prepare - I don't know how far your home is to the stores. Here, there's no public transport - trikes, jeepneys, buses - nada. Not allowed to go to another village, let alone another town or province.

    Stay safe, sane & healthy!

China suspended the visas and residence permits for all foreigners so nobody will be entering for a while.

Our school is open but only 2 classes here. The rest were supposed to return next week but that has been put on hold until jebus knows when...

Again, a positive aspect on hw it's affected us . . . yes, still in self-isolation from the family . . . and it is my youngest daughter's birthday today, so not much positive there . . . It's been raining . . .

    The positive?

3kg of lovely field mushrooms collected earlier

I had to stop collecting as there were simply too many and they would have been wasted, hopefully someone else came along . . . and we're literally just a few minutes from the city centre - but this lockdown has everyone stay at home

Anyone anywhere having problems with fresh fruit and veg, or any foods?

Seems to be fine here, for now, but good idea to buy that little bit extra; if it turns out you don't need it some neighbour might.

Thai Airways sent official notification that our flights are cancelled. That's one less decision to make and work has been notified not to expect me back before June. I just need the 60-day extension next week and then I can relax on the farm and enjoy.

BTW will they do a 60-day extension from the date in the passport or the date you request it?

So far, so good. People here still behaving and shopping sensibly, other than the run on eggs.. Lots of local suppliers of fresh veg and fruit, which I always thought came from China..

How Thai immigration are going to handle this will be the next interesting stage.

The stepfather works all hours but doesn't earn much. It's him not saving that the wife had a little gripe about. It's her 70 year old stepmother that's the concern, she has diabetes so held to ransom there. They are great people though, so no bother.

^^ They said we need to bring marriage certificate, passports, wife's ID card and house book along with a photo.

    We will photocopy everything.

Am I missing something? They are currently still open for business although not sure if they will be on Tuesday.

After this is over the gov could solve all of Thailand's problems in one fell swoop, arrest and deport all farangs for overstay; but don't forget to fine them first.

Some TIO's are demanding an Embassy supplied "Extension Request" letter. The ability of obtaining it depends on your local embassy, your visa type. Some info is in the MK's Virus thread.

Please let us know how you get on.
