Got a letter recently telling me they had adjusted my weekly contributions to the princely sum of 6quid. Still strikes me as a bargain.

Eligibility for Class 2 or Class 3 is given at this HMRC webpage.

    What's the difference again?

I checked for self and punraya recently, and we both have something there, that plus my bit of civil serpent stuff, I might even have enough to retire on now... there must be a point in topping up contributions, you do wonder whether there's much point, mind you, even private pensions are crap, baby boomers scoffed the lot, and make us gen xers work to feed their flabby self-important hides, whilst dodging lefty projectile vomit from millennial snowflakes.

I'm still inclined towards a lead injection before I hit 50, so that I don't end up like SA, babbling dementedly on an online forum about Brexit for years. Everywhere's rubbish, and retirement seems even more boring than TD's four bores of the afopalypse.

For most people, the topping up will give good return relative to other investment options.
This is not 'financial advice' coz I am not qualified to offer that.
Just saying, it is worth your time to consider.

I downloaded and printed out my application form to top up my NIs. I requested that I be allowed to top up the very cheap Class 2 contributions, based on me being a total layabout and too bolshie to work for someone else as an employer....

Anyway, sent off the form by EMS and let's see what happens.

It certainly is worth topping up. Although I was only working in the UK from 26-43 years old, (and was a contractor for a large part of that time and not paying NI), if I top up, I stand to get around $750 per month from my retirement age at 66. Add to that another $500 or so each month from interest on my savings, plus another $600 a month if I teach all of 1 hour a day, and I should be doing fine
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile

Presumably the "lead injection" will be up your arse where you evidently store what passes for your brains.

Shooting yourself in the head would of course merely constitute a flesh wound.
