    Don Imus dead @ 79

I started listening to talk radio pretty much around the time of its inception. I wasn't aware of Don Imus until decades later.

The man is, I think, brilliant and he simply spoke freely regardless of the consequences

I'm sorry to learn of his death. He was not especially old but death, as we all know, happens at anytime.

Least of all the "nappy-headed hoes" and "jigaboos".

    Cool

Don Imus - an early morning staple.

Imus in the Morning - WNBC 66 on your AM dial. Listened to the man every morning cruising on my way to work along Interstate 80 in North Jersey. Back in the days of Muscle Cars and Rock ‘n Roll.

Fond memories. Far more entertaining and radically outrageous (for the times) than today’s current shock jock Howard Stern.

    Don Imus – Philanthropist

    http://www.winknews.com/2019/12/27/don-imus-shock-radio-host-known-for-private-charity-work-has-died-he-was-79/

Imus’ unsparing on-air persona was tempered by his off-air philanthropy, raising more than $40 million for groups including the CJ Foundation for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. He ran a New Mexico ranch for dying children, and often used his radio show to “solicit” guests for donations.

A pediatric medical center bearing Imus’ name was opened at the Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey.

Imus, born on a Riverside, California cattle ranch, was the oldest of two boys — his brother Fred later became an “Imus In the Morning” show regular. The family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where Imus joined the Marines before taking jobs as a freight train brakeman and uranium miner.

Only at age 28 did he appear on the airwaves. His caustic persona, though it would later serve him well, was initially a problem: Imus was canned by a small station in Stockton, California, for uttering the word “hell.”

Yea, those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end...

Nothing particularly funny that I gather, harry. It just means your opinion and posts about him are likely based on very limited information.

Imus was a very astute fellow and certainly humorous. Some might even call his charity efforts generous. Call him what you want but the beauty is he didn't care. He spoke freely regardless of possible repercussions.

I'm happy to discover there are loads of youtube clips of his programs that'll provide me lot's of hours of entertainment

    I say RIP Don Imus...

My opinion of someone who calls Jewish people "Beanie-headed little jew boys" or Black women "cleaning ladies" is that they are out to make a name for themselves by catering to the same sort of retarded fuckwits that lap that shit up.

So you carry on with you and bowie's little circle jerk and I won't shed a tear that the revolting specimen is dead.
