    New decades resokutions.

So 2020 is nearly upon us and with the New Year the opportunity to resolve to do something different with your lives presents itself. Thank God this happens annually but even that is too long. I've been waiting since August when the inspiration for change hit me but we all know change is doomed to failure unless underpinned by a New Years Resolution.

For me my resolution is twofold.

    1. Regardless of how picky, nasty or bitchy Syb, Hutter or Ron get i am going to try my level best to be nice. I am not including Reachy for obvious canine and family reasons.

The second is a bit more decade related.

    2. I expect to retire in the next 3-4 years and my resolution is to try not to get side tracked or derailed from this and to have my affairs in such order as to spend summer in the UK, some months in Thailand in the so called cool season doing jobs for the BiL and the rest of the time travelling and ticking off a few places i've never been to or to revist some i want to see again but with the Mrs in tow.

So on the face of it all looks easy when you type it but can i deliver and be a better person, oh and a retired one too.

So thats me all laid bare what if any are everyone elses resolution(s).

2020 is NOT a new decade. 2021 will be. There was no year zero. It will be the start of the "twenties", though.
    Sorry, I'm just a natural smart-arse.

My new year resolution is to retire. There's a bit of logistics involved so it won't be until September or so but I've had enough. I should have gone last September but things were still okay then. Back end of nowhere suits me...

Well all the best to you Troy and family, lets hope your plans come to fruition. The country estate looks fun and i suspect your plans ensure you can do as you please within reason.

Needn't be predictably surfaced and politically conscious regarding one's fabricated resolutions, nor the trivial attention and non sequitur fallacy that accompanies.

    Just be.
    And just be well.

I'm quietly confident that a greasy bucket and a knob of cheese will remedy the situation.
However, it could be a long year and no options are ruled out.

Much is lost to history and was filled in by rulers at various times, but the first known number system was the Mesopotamian (base 60) around 3400 BC, and the earliest 10-base system dates to 300 years later in Egypt.

As for the zero, some sources credit the Indian astronomer Aryabhata as inventor, even though he was born late in the 5th century.

Evidence suggests the Mayans invented zero in about 4 AD, though the first recorded zero appeared in Mesopotamia a coincidental 7 years earlier in 3 BC, and as it existed before 1 AD it becomes possible that there was a year zero which we don't know about. Consider also that Jesus' entire timeline rests on estimates that have been established as fact, so anything is possible.

Interesting that it took another 450 years for the Mesopotamian zero to reach India which is virtually next door and on the trade routes, or bizarre if it didn't and the Indians came up with the same concept independently; another 200 years spreading through to Cambodia, and a further century to reach China and the growing number of Islamic countries from where it quickly filtered through Arabia and into Europe.

Hardly worth arguing over, either there was or there wasn't a year zero, and according to quantum theory both sides are right.

I resolve not to call it a new decade as the old one doesn't officially end until end of 2020.
