    Daily or weekly cheer

There's a lot of negativity around and its easier to moan (British trait perhaps) than find reasons to be cheerful.

We've probably had a thread on it before but this ones for posters to raise a glass to things that went well for a change.

    To kick off:

Bought tickets on Thai air months ago from a ticketing site in cattle class, yeah i know cheap bastard. Anyway the default baggage allowance is always 30kgs or so i thought. Looked at the e-ticket and it said 20kgs which i ignored as i thought it was just an error on their part.

I packed two bags, one at 20kgs and the other i thought must be around 10kgs and was in a rush so didn't check, it was 3.30am.

Got to the check-in and put the bags on the belt. The nice lady said you do know you are over your allowance at 36kgs to which i apologised and said i can take some books out and put them in my hand luggage.

She of course said my allowance was 20kgs, at which point i was trying to work out the ramifications of leaving one bag behind and whether i'd have no under cackers and other clothes, pizza makings for me Otto and my Mrs xmas presents et al.

Anyway the lady kept processing and put on updatrd tags as i'd screwed up putting them on.

She finally turned to me and said i've let you off over £1,500 of excess baggage charges and laughed at the staggered look on my face. I thanked her and wished her a merry xmas.

So xmas was saved by the usually surly check in lady. I will remember her and i've seen her before as i always check in at the same zone so its a big box of Thortons Choccies next time for her.

Right fukos, oops flick dial off Tezza mode. What a day, car port going in 9m x 8m, not a Betty one but proper rebar'd and over spec'd well according to the sage advice of just about every Thai who has an opinion on the matter so i fuk'd em all off am going double rebar base 30cm. That's next but fuk did i enjoy borrowing a Kubota and leveling and sorting the site all except the clouds of dust which has taken another year off me life but worth every minute - did it in the dark after 4 changs so we"ll await judgement 2moz

Well i'm a bit played out after yesterdays exhertions what with 8 errections. Good news is they are all still standing and straight, feel like a teenager again.
Todays gainfull employ is to finish levelling the ground, put chairs down to hold the rebar off the floor and site the two layers of rebar ready for the pour. Lastly get the concrete casing delivered and located and see if i fancy a day off tomorrow what with the election on and need for a Chang brekkie. Life is great.

    PS

Anyone know how to go about getting the concrete polished: hire s paddler?

My cheer tonight is procuring a pig's heart for my eldest childs biology lesson tomorrow .
It was the last one in 24hour monsterTesco.

I shall check in again tomorrow with another feelgood story...

Oh wait....one for the reds ....

555 Chit i am amazed they still use stuff like that these days, give the litluns nightgmares.

Always remember our biology teacher served in Northern Ireland and the lesson on lungs with a set of pigs lungs. He used to regale us with stories of the troubles snd what made this lesson memorable is him telling us one of his muckers got shot in the chest so he stabbed one side of the lungs to demonstrate that even though you have two lungs, one collapsd lung can cause the other to collapse - his lessons were certainly memorable.

Well that was fun. Had to do a 15 cubic meter concrete pour today feeling less than tipity top. Thats 3 loads which would havd been ok but the agreed start time slipped to 3pm and they were a very nice relaxed paced crew on their reloads, i think they watched an episode of chernobyl and caned a hong thong between each delivery.

The pour got done 1,750 bht / Cu which i couldn't care if it was expensive so i ended up leveling and floating 26k baht (Reachy!) worth of conrete in the dark. Well almost, see the lovely Burmese chap who i'd got into to help omitted to tell me he'd removed the old floodlight. The solution given i couldn't lay hands on a set of site lights was 3 motorcys running with full beam in the pitch black whilst i attempted to get concrete as even as possible and try to float a smooth ish surface - i'm under no illusion that its ready to polish so i can forget that idea - the upshot is

I couldn't give a Reachy's dingleberry, i'm finished for the day, the shadow of Corbyn has been driven away and the sunny uplands of a future outside the EU awaits....happy days.

^ you do know the average Thai works a whole day for less than a Maccy D sausage and egg mcmuffin?

I'm all for right first time but when its the same price to let them come back and rectify it 20 times as Noy at Sabai Room why would you bother?

Anyhow its quite therapeutic reading about your toil, any chance of some pics as I lay here getting my balls licked on my third load whist contemplating my general erwction?

55 Dill have you ever tried rectifying concrete? Its not very forgiving as i will find out in the cold light of day.

If it looks too bad i'm gonna go all Chiity on it and Astro turf it and make out i meant to build a small 5 aside pitch.

Its only me and the Mrs will know and i'll convince her she lost something in the translation and i always meant for us to try our hand at getting fit and the car can just sit in the sun all day.

Only at one end of the gate if its not even in the morning. I can grind off the hinges and weld them back on Chitty to give the illusion of a level playing field.

I was listening to the BBC on my way to work this morning. Something about Corbin and pulling out. I never could understand those silly accents but then again it really doesn't matter to me. That's the good part

Good luck with the build and have a drink for me, lucky bastard.

    Cheers, fishy.

Dill it looks like you're on a break from slaving over the wok.

I get bike thing, they ride shitty little scooters with baffles removed and annoy everyone whilst thinking their irrisistable to the ladies - but thats for another thread.

Right, i've already moaned about the cat practicing for strictly come dancing on my less than perfectly laid car port base but whilst reflecting on yet another dull bile filled offering from Sausages it occurred to me that all is not lost and prerhaps i can turn paw prints into a feature.

Now to rescue the situation i am going to grind back the raised edges leaving recesed prints which i am going to fill with concrete anchor acryljc but the twist is i am going to colour it and make a feature of the mishap.

See Sausages a little positive thought can rescue even the bleakest of situations - not that this was life or death but the sentiment is there.

Multi coloured cat paw prints in the floor of a car port.

Sounds like a right carry on

Put that in the construction forum and you might win thread of the year.

That chicken was quieter than the wife Dill, get yourself a set of was plugs.

My cheer today is in going on a Christmas party and intend to get comfortably numb.
I might even treat myself to a Christmas present.

Come on chaps return to the happy space no relationship trauma on here.

I know every day is a holiday for Dill and Lu and i have to confess some jealously but as Dill pointed out why when i can pay for labour in Ayam beans do i do some of it myself?.

The answer is that i've done building work when i first left home pre 16 and always down the years i've either done my own jobs on houses or had a hand in it coz i know what shit goes on and corners get cut.

Today i have cut down 30 of the 32 Cha om we have - nasty smelly prickly things like Reachy and they are gone so i'm a happy bunny. Two left which i shall dilligently prune so she never cooks anymore of the stuff.

    Shhhhhhh.
