    Great thread, Nampik!

    ^^Dill.. so crazy! lol.
    ---

I got to enjoy a bit of Canada Day today relaxing in my dad's pool with my brother/gf and generally lazed about on the floaties, chatting and enjoying the 30 degree weather. July is the best month to live in Canada, as we have more winter than summer. You have to enjoy it while you can! Hope to have a bbq out there soon!

After seven months at home in Korat and on the verge of going insane I've been offered a job!

Starting end of July, 4 - 6 weeks offshore in Norway.

It's with a new contractor (to me), a direct competitor to my usual employers which makes me think twice. But, they're getting a lot of work with Equinor (Statoil) so it coud be good to get in with them. And, if it goes OK with them there should be time to squeeze in a second trip before the end of the year.

I could certainly do with the work... and I can't believe I'm actually thinking about it, but that's what so long at home has done to my mental state. I guess it's time to get busy again, even at post-Clovid rates. Offshore day rates have certainly been hit.

I wonder how easy it'll be to return to Thailand mid September?

^ Great news but you need to looking into the re-entry criteria or you could be in for a lengthy spell abroad.

^ To be honest I think I have to go for it and see what the re-entry criteria are as and when needed. It's sure to be different mid September than now. I'm married to a Thai spouse, have a visa and have insurance, so tick a lot of the boxes that are stipulated just now.

Worst case I could visit the UK for a couple of weeks between work trips... but who knows what state the UK'll be in by then?

^ Well that's a thought... could certainly do with a cheese run as 7 months at home has obliterated my stock!

I think that thought may clinch it... 20 kilos of Cheddar back to Thailand.

If you still have a home there that may be a good idea or the whole exercise may prove costly

I'm off there next week. You will have to self quarantine for two weeks, although you will have to in Thailand too.

Although things may well change in the time you have. I'd play it by ear.

^ Bladdy hell... I've accepted the work now.

Hopefully by mid September things will be better...

If the two week quarantine is still in force in Thailand I wouldn't bother coming back... I'd rather have the two weeks on the cider in Somerset.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) - in line with public health guidance, we are working with fewer staff. It will take longer than usual to process your application.

We've approved your application and new photo. We'll let you know when your passport is ready to dispatch.

yeah, back up to two soon. one Blue and one Maroon (Blue next year too)

Daughter's passport renewal took 2 weeks which I thought was pretty good for July. A nice shade of blue too.

Since Covid-19, I have been insanely busy. Working 7 days a week, and in the six months I have been working from home have done about 2 years work. One job on my list has been waiting for some time, and finally moved into the super urgent category, so picked it up today. Checked back through my files to see where I was, and what information I needed to get on with it - only to find that I fucking did it last year. Found the documents showing it was passed over more than a year ago. So, the other department fucked up - and I was so insanely happy realizing it was one more thing off my list.

Now to pick up the next thing in the super urgent category. But feeling good.

I'm overjoyed with my daily cheers.

Firstly my neighbours have been hammering away for weeks at untold DIY and I arose to the usual banging and shouted"have a fvcking day off!"
Its been all quite on the western front since.

Secondly, I cooked a wholesome chicken soup that everyone enjoyed and even asked for seconds!
Yes, today has been positive day at chez Chitty.

What a brilliant day . . . after our obligatory Saturday deep-clean . . . the weather was beautiful - 14 degrees and sunny. Packed a picnic basket with lots of cheese (blue, brie, limburger and aged stilton), different types of crackers, wine, very nice freshly squeezed apple juice and went to the park . . . threw the ball for the dog, walked a lot and enjoyed the warmth and appreciated having the family around me.

    Nice . . .

Doc have me a thumbs up following blood test. Half dosage of diabetes tablets is working well and no ill effects from my alcohol intake on long term sugar levels.

Celebrated with two 10 mile walks in the lower Alps...and a huge steak and several fine German beers....
