The daughter started her school holidays today so we made up a batch of Euro cup cakes.

We tried a new recipe that uses vegetable oil instead of butter or marg... and they rose like a dream.

Let's hope England can rise to the occasion just as successfully tonight!

Another day... another perfectly risen sponge cake.

We've really got this cracked now.

It's not doing my waistline any favours but the daughter loves a bit of baking.

    Lovely!

Domestic science used to taught in schools. Now you are making it to be fun stuff to do at home.

    Have you no shame man?

Next thing you know, the schools will be making you responsible for sex education …………

    IIRC.

Prior to the school enlightening the children with the revelations of sexual education/practices, parents were informed and could remove their children. Stating they would take responsibility. It may have been at 11 years old.

lol. I think there were some complaints about teaching LGBT awareness in UK primary schools?

You seem to have enough common sense to improvise, adapt and deliver the curriculum that you choose.

    ^^^ Thanks Lom... I think...

I had an entirely different kind of refresher course in mind, but the wife's got another 'headache' tonight!

Anyway, more cheer... today we made up a batch of 'no butter biscuits'. This was mainly because we had no bladdy butter in the fridge so the daughter searched out an appropriate recipe on the interweb.

They came out somewhere in between a cake and a biscuit.

The 'money shot' was an incredibly difficult photo to take. As soon as Lionel's eyes were in the view the phone software recognised a 'face' which it then focused on, thus rendering the freshly baked 'no butter biscuit' out of focus.

I overcame this by just having the lower part of my cup of tea in the shot!
