So the kid's bicycle arrives from Lazada.
What the fooker's failed to mention
was that you then need to go and buy half the Black & Decker back catalog just to put the fookin' thing together.

Fortunately MM is smarter than me, and after I wrote the shopping list for the local hardware store she said a bicycle shop will put it together for 200 baht.
A Motosai Taxi Expert At everything, 100.
will go with the bike shop.
Just as well it did not need coolant or the poor little tyke would be having a sook come Xmas day because it would still be in bits.
^^
Wankers, my expertise stops at pink and tubular.
Oi ... I didn't assemble it!

It's nice to see I have had a small cultural effect on the Thai Family ... all the wrapping plastic came off the bike.
At this time of year I think it's nice to spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves.
A time of plenty for some... but how about those unlucky enough to live in impoverished countries.
Norway must be one of the most gastronomically impoverished countries on the planet. Before I left last month I snapped a few Norwegian Christmas delicacies.
Pinnakjot (pronounced penushoot). Salty, dried mutton bones - traditional to bake and eat hot on Christmas Day.
Fenalaar. Dried and salted mutton leg. The same idea as a nice palma ham, but with that unmistakable taste of rancid sheep fat. Not cheap either at about 160 quid a leg.
And last but not least, Lutefisk.
Who wants freshly fried cod and chips when you can soak the cod in cold water for a few days. Once saturated, soak the cod in a sodium hydroxide solution for a couple more days to get a lovely jelly-like consistency, then to make it edible (because it is now caustic with a pH of 11-12) soak it in cold water for another few days. Yum...
Uff Da!
That's why you need to get to know the locals they all hunt and fish and eat it fresh. I am part Norwegian and as a boy I spent two summers in Norway. The spreads they put on where pretty epic from what I remember.
Living in Seattle the Norwegian side of my family migrated here for the fishing. If you have ever watched that show "The Deadliest Catch" that's what my family did for a living. I grew up eating more Alaskan salmon, king crab and halibut that you could ever imagine.
Well I actually never stopped eating it.
Seems more suitable here then in Mendip's Christmas return to 'ole country.

Walked into my local Bottle Shop/Off License/Liquor Store
Ho Ho Ho
What sign? Can't see any signs. I can just see Santa Claudia and a blank background.
They year is 1998, I'm seated in one of Gothenburgs better seafood restaurant and it is quite late in the evening.
The door opens an in comes a guy with wife and children in tow and it is evident from their dresses (sport jackets and pixie) where they come from - it is Ole Norman with family that has just entered the restaurant.
The family waits inside the door while Ole takes a few steps forward, looks around, and then with a loud voice asks: Har dere pizza? (do you serve pizza?)
So will there be a 24 hour truce?
Snub and Jack, AO and Momo, NPT and Sybill, Panama Hat and Huge Cow, Fishlocker and sobriety, Chitty and apostrophes, Dave and then/than, Dill, junior, Lulu and Luigietta's mother all playing football between the trenches?
(Ant and Smeg playing tennis.)
Lulu i've made my New Year resolution so yes.
So you've still got 9 days of urban guerrilla warfare to go.
Hopefully Dill will have calmed down by then and won't be eyeing up me legs like Keano on Alfie Haaland.
3 names, didn't want to over Reach myself.
A Greggs festive bake. A Xmas dinner in a pasty, not bad .
Manchester Cathedral with my youngest posing next to the new Ghandi statue.
