Chanthaburi cathedral lit up this week for Xmas (not my own pics)
40 years ago. Christmas at Camp Laem Sing, Koh Proet, Chanthaburi, the refugee camp for mainly Vietnamese, also some Cambodian and Chinese, this pic Jan 1980
Photo gets a mention in a recenty published book, The People We Wanted To Forget by Michael Harpold (his photo)
The local Catholic community, cathedral (1909) in pics previous post, many Vietnamese and Vietnamese/Thai families. The first church, 1711, was across the river from the current site in Chantaboon.Built by the refugees themselves, it served as both a church and a school. Three weeks after Christmas, the decorations remained up.
"They're all we have" the refugees told the author.
"This is the Baptist church. There's a Catholic church also. They use the buildings as schools too. Some of the refugees are teachers. They never stop teaching their kids. They have English classes for the adults too"

What a Hero
When I managed pubs about 20 years ago, it was expected that the innkeeper would partake in pub games. I was shite at darts and only average at pool, so I pulled myself half of mild, and enjoyed dominoes and crib.
With a lounge, a tap room and a kitchen to watch over, that half of mild was instrumental in keeping control of myself.
Chitty's craft ale looks more like a gassy lager to me.
To you all:
Even Chitty you blue....
Thanks for the green CCC and a Merry Christmas to you as well. Green owed as I am out of ammo.
Christmas babies

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. One week more, then it's 2020! Happy Holidays!
