    Occidental imagination, lest surface condition.

We bring a suitcase of clothes for the kids every year. They love it and the wife and I love the fun they have choosing things. I also used to cook food for the whole school at Christmas but am too tired nowadays. Instead I cook for the extended family for new year...and the school teachers. Maybe 100-150 people but loads of helpers.

I hope it's seen as a sign of goodwill....

^ Good Man! Speaking of Nepal and the poor man's cow, I have been seriously considering rearing some goats on our farm. They are generally less fussy than cows and a good food supplement is not too expensive. The only problem is introducing the Thais to goat meat. They aren't that keen on lamb, unless it's been cremated. It would make a damn good Christmas dinner though....

^ Goat was my Lamb for 3 years in Nepal and i loved it as a Sunday Roast, its a great meat but be careful of Billy meat as it can be gamey if hung a bit. I actually had steaks, stews, BBQs and Roasts and its pretty healthy - just watch the Kids, not the goats the HUMONS they get really attached and its a hard sell telling them they are eating Rhodri , Prescela or Gary.

Strangely, guinea fowl are also excellent at controlling ticks, if they are ever a problem. I thought about keeping a few with our chickens a while back, but they didn't look very healthy and I didn't want to risk introducing any disease to our flock.

Our dogs have a very distinctive 'snake bark' - high pitched and very persistent. As soon as I hear it, I know they've found and surrounded a snake. They also use this bark for scorpions and those horrible big centipedes.

Out the decorations up today with Xmas music on in the background. Feeling festive but not sure how long that tinsel will last with the dog.

    Greta, eat your heart out

Living, productive Durian, Coconut and Mangosteen, Thai fruit trees and a, probably Chinese, recycled Father Christmas hat.

Merry Christmas to all TD members.

    Just received my ex-wifes Christmas Hamper from Sussex;

Place in pan of boiling water for 20 minutes. Pull the top seal, and serve in a soup bowl.

She even sent some plastic spoons and forks.

    Brings back such happy memories.

She remembers every year, bless her.

55 nice pics. It still makes me smile and leaves me bemused they're so into the xmas spectacle, Thais are magpies tho and love anything shiny and fun. The murdered xmas songs played on loop in the shops/malls with the absence of the letter R can get wearing .

This will be the 3rd Christmas not spent at Home in the West.

    Family is in Thailand.

Boys need a little independence, so some bikes were in order.

They ride 16" usually, but we went for the 20" in Thailand ... a bit of growing room.

BHT 4,000 for both of them.

Some (a lot) of assembly required. The Boys cousin Oom is on to it.

I like Oom ... not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but a good heart and he loves the Boys, as do all of the Thai Family.

    Resulting in these ...

BTW, the Boys love them, we just need to buy them some bells and water bottles.
