What Would You Get Sent from the UK to Asia?

    Xmas package time...

From the UK to be sent to me over in Korea (a particularly shite place to buy most items compared to say HK or Bkk).

What should I get sent over, so far I have:

    - marzipan.
    - M&S shirts.
    - Yorkshire teabags.
    - Branston Pickle.

    Add your ideas, please.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

you cant get paracetamol in Japan.

Not sure what Branston Pickles are, but I love a good ham sandwich with mustard pickles - something else you cant get here.

When I first moved here in 1992 there were a bunch of things that I used to get sent over, but you can get most things now. Deodorant was something I always got sent over or bought in Thailand as the Japanese equivilant just wouldnt cut it .

Some of the stuff I occasionally get colleagues to bring to work for me... (apart from strong cheddar cheese which is top of the list but I don't suppose will post well)

    Coleman's mustard
    Paxo stuffing
    Bisto
Tins of corned beef (maybe too heavy?)
    Boxes of Shreddies
    Sherbet Lemons and Pear Drops
    Jaffa cakes

Candy canes and jelly beans (you're maybe too old for these?)

Dog leads, collars and name tags - I buy online and send them to peoples houses to bring over (probably a niche requirement?)

^ Yes that would be odd... but Wotsits and Quavers are a staple requirement. Thanks Cyrille, I missed them from my list!

A word of warning here... I've noticed that Wotsit bags deflate if put in with hold baggage. The loss of cabin pressure must break the seal on the bag. You need to eat them straight away or they go soft.

Seems to be a Brit thing.

I never see Americans posting 'Yee Haa! My Ma's sent me some rootin' tootin' salt water taffy!'

    Greggs sausage rolls.
My kids brought me some over, they travel well. They were squashed to fuck after being sat on, on the plane, but were still lush

Clothes are the main thing... Even though they are fukkin made in Asia

^^ Not sure about a sausage roll in the post!

And clothes, yes. Once you know your size for a particular shop it's easy to do online and get sent over.. XXL shirts from Debenhams work for me with my wide shoulders.

Next time you are near Pattaya, visit the expat shops. Everything is in there from back home

    Siam expat foods

    Corner Shop

    And

    Siamburis

The latter is the best if you only want to go to one especially for bargain cheese, smoked salmon trim, whey and Aussie steaks.

Siam expat for Sloanes back bacon

Little shout out to Villamarket for Richmonds sausages and Iceland food and Greggs sausage rolls but only in Bangkok I hear.

Anyway in all those shops you will find an Aladdin's cave of excessive salt, fat, sugar and empty calorie greatness from back home

^ I was in Villa Market on Sukhumvit last week, up by Robin Hood. Picked up a few pork pies but didn't see any sausage rolls.

Possibly a commonwealth thing ..... I've sent my shopping list to my sister in Canada, she'll be hauling the items here on her next visit.

    Onion soup mix
    Black liquorice
    Mint Patty
    Big Turk
A bag or two of dill pickle chips
Maybe a couple heirloom Canadian apples.

I've never seen Paxo but maybe at Tops in Central? Haven't made it there yet.

I bring over a lot of stuff just because it's a fraction of the price from the UK and with work trips it's so easy to do.

^ Saw Paxo in a Tops yesterday.

Tesco sell their own stuffing for around 40 baht.

Tastes exactly the same as Paxo.

Chiming in here as a states guy at this juncture I think you can find virtually anything you miss food wise from home, especially for you UK folks being Tesco is UK based and lots of small shops Dil mentioned seem to stock loads of stuff. I went by a few of them and they are totally geared at Britain and some Australian.

Only thing anyone brings for me from the states is Bourbon or Whiskey because you just can't get anything here that is not Jack Daniels, Makers Mark or Bulleit Bourbon and those are very basic and sadly are typically 2.5x times cost you can get them in the states. I will say I have also had colleagues bring me truck parts.

Out of curiosity what is a parcel cost to send that food stuff from UK to Asia? I do not think its cheap but I really have no idea

It's remarkably cheap to have a subscription sent to you in Thailand.

I had Viz delivered to me for a couple of years.

Saffron threads from a reputable source. If it is the same in Korea as in LoS then one is looking at a huge saving. Just mentioning it if you fancied an authentic paella.

Also, it weighs nothing and will cause the carrier no angst.
