A barrel of cask-conditioned Abbot Ale.
    Well, I can dream, can't I?

(Although getting it to cellar temperature could be a challenge, but achievable).

Used to be able to get either / both at a few of the domestic airport newsagents in Thailand.. I think Viz got canned recently by Thai censors though.

Fook all, the place is fooked and full of Refo trash.

That's why the vast majority of soap dodgers live in this shit house innit.

    True story fukers.

    ^ ever been there, Terrance?

Bogon, there's more to life than Lemsip.

There was also a large chunk glass bottled Branston Pickle hidden among the tea bags.

Mr Boo, a word of warning... the Thai ants get into sealed Jaffa Cakes, I keep them in the freezer now. I don't know how good your Korean ants are, but be careful!

That's important info there, Mendip, many thanks because the wife is returning here to Korea on Saturday and some of those pesky Thai ants have likely sneaked into her case! I will barricade the Jaffacakes because they are mine! (Which reminds me, I need to hide the Jaffacakes and Aero bar from the wife... )

I don't really miss the UK, spent less than 10 days there in 18 years away (just 2 short trips), but a bit of melancholy is bought on at Xmas time. Anyways, I need some comfort food to eat away the tears after the wife gives me a big verbal thrashing for buying a new guitar! Ironically, she's pretty talented and can play better than me...

This'll soon get some action in the Manwich thread:

I seem to have reached a stage where I would have to say...nothing.
Got Emart down the road aka The Vault of Plenty.

Okay, good bedding, it's not so easy to come by here unless you are into gaudy fake Versace and Louis Vuitton numbers!

That's probably a good state to be in.

I tell you something I miss from Thailand: a good (well ok) Xmas dinner/Sunday lunch. No good options local to me in Korea...

I did this at least one year:

Loads of half decent options around Bkk.

Yeah, no really good Christmas dinner here. That said, the Kempinski is likely do be doing something and the prices are fair enough for the time of year and the fact that demand will be pretty low. It's not a massive holiday here.

I'd probably try to get 3 or 4 friends together and give that Kempinski a go... I might meet a couple of friends in Seoul and go somewhere but it'll be a long day and really expensive... UB is pretty small, there are some really good restaurants a taxi ride away (I remember a nice Spanish place, a couple of good Indians, and that stone ger place did a great T-bone steak although it felt weird sitting in a big round empty restaurant.)

Done it in the Huntsman pub abouuuut 10 years ago - was good. That pub down the side street in Silom (very close to the BTS) was always good. The black Swan always had good food, but never did an Xmas lunch there. The hotels were mostly average, but usually the Thai colleagues chose them, so they were the flashy looking Thai places with lots of Thai xmas options? Yuck!

To be fair, if you fancy that type of grub, Bkk is very good, a lot of options; 1500 baht ain't that cheap though... that's 50,000 won ffs...

Is the rib room high, I don't like high... The Huntsman was down in the basement, low, that's good.
