^ Nice one David. I hope to be fossicking with the daughter in Lyme Regis again this summer.

If you notice a handsome chap on the beach in need of some adult company, with a bored looking daughter tagging along carrying a geological hammer, please say hello!

    ^^

I lived for a few years a few miles west along the coast, over the border into Devon. I was in Sidmouth Sailing Club, and enjoyed the times in my beach launched Mirror dinghy.

One consequence of Putin's war is that the development of new oil and gas fields has been accelerated to replace Russian supplies. This means a lot of work in the Barents Sea.

This is so far north that it's impossible to distribute the produce using existing subsea infrastructure, so oil and gas is carried to shore by pipelines to a refinery in Melkøya, an island next to Hammerfest. After processing, the oil and gas is transported elsewhere by tanker.

The temperature is just above freezing for Easter but it's OK inside and makes for some nice scenery.

I seem to have missed the return to work thread you usually do.

There's nothing new mate... same old, and I don't want it to get boring.

Those work threads were hard work to keep going as well.

But... Emirates have a new teaspoon design and I procured two on the way over. I need a suitable thread to show them off in!

So no offshore work thread, which is interesting and instead we're gonna get an airline teaspoon thieving thread instead?

Agreed! We should log a formal protest until he revives his offshore work thread, a longtime TD favorite!

Bladdy hell, this is an 'Offshore Pics' thread, not a work banter thread...

But yes, she is still working on this ship and in fact I bumped into her at Tromsø airport on my way here... she was also crew changing. She had the pleasure of doing my laundry yesterday which included my underwear from the 34 hour journey from Korat to Hammerfest. I hope they pay her well.

And no Chitty, it's way too cold for the helideck but I've already made it to the gym twice on the trot now.

I don't really want to do another work thread because they are time consuming and this will be a busy trip for me... but I guess it would save polluting other threads... and I'll get a few nice pictures on our transit back down south... and I'm itching to show off my new Emirates spoons...

    Night shift.

Currently RIH (Run in Hole) 7” casing to 1,791 meters.

At the bottom of this casing string, run as part of the casing, are my tandem hydraulic surface controlled flapper valves.

After this we will prepare for Underbalanced Drilling operations and drill down into the target zone.

How many people required to run that thing over a night shift? Is it mainly automated now?

    No not automated at all.

Land rigs are pretty basic usually. They need to be dismantled, relocated and rebuilt fairly regularly.

Not sure how many are on the night shift drill crew but there’s a comedy sketch to be made of them all emerging from their minivan. Maybe around 15 on nights.

Is abuse of green hands still a thing on drill rigs ? It was in 2009. Or has that cleaned up a bit over the years ?

You can see the pits to the right, wellhead cellars center, export to production bottom left and a utility building top left.

There’s a normal shutter in there that nobody else seems to use/know about.

I understand that way to a point. But literally starving new guys while the rest of the crew feasts on buckets of KFC and running guys off because they are a fan of the wrong hockey team is a bit much.

Cool pics btw. Are you guys doing directional shit over there ?
