Anxiety is avoided by the use of jazz hands
It is a time-honoured custom signalling approval, acclamation and enthusiasm, but students at Oxford University are to replace clapping at student union events with “silent jazz hands” amid fears that applause could trigger anxiety.
Officers at the student union argued that clapping, whooping and other loud noises presented an “access issue” for some disabled students who have “anxiety disorders, sensory sensitivity and those who use hearing aids”.
They passed a motion to replace clapping with jazz hands this week at the first meeting of the Student Council of the new academic year. “Jazz hands” involves waving both hands by the sides of the body at about shoulder height. It is the British Sign Language expression for applause.
Roisin McCallion, welfare and equal opportunity officer of the Oxford University Student Union, proposed the motion to make the union’s democratic events “more accessible and inclusive for all, including people who suffer from anxiety,” she said.
Frank Furedi, emeritus professor of sociology at the University of Kent, said that “jazz hands” was yet more evidence that many young people traded on their vulnerabilities, rather than their strengths. “Cultivating and displaying vulnerability has become an integral part of the kind of identity that student activists celebrate,” he said.
Clapping at student events was banned at the National Union of Students Women’s Conference in 2015 and adopted by the union at its national conference in 2017. Manchester University’s Students’ Union was one of the first university unions to adopt jazz hands instead of clapping last year.
you couldnt make this shite up if you tried.
OK, Boomer... maybe stop reading the Torygraph and Times and getting angry over meaningless articles you can’t understand
I reckon some other bunch of students are going to get triggered...
Boomers are the most useless pathetic arrogant cocksucker generation that has ever walked the earth. They are the first generation ever to have it better than their parents AND THEIR KIDS.
(before every Boomer reds me- I don't buy into the theory that any generation's character is better or worse. The bashing only for the Boomers who bash millenials, gen X or Greatest gen)

Lol. To get rich and relatively well off, all Boomers had to do was show up. The Greatest Gens for crushed with 15-20% interest rates just at the time when Boomers started buying houses and assets Stocks, bonds, real estate. Any asset, really any asset, bottomed out in the 80's and has risen up up and up for the last 35 years since. The Boomers were the first in, in the greatest worldwide ponzi scheme of all humankind. And it hadn't even stopped yet. Stocks and bonds are still making all time highs, riding on the same trend that started 30+ years ago.
If Boomers were hit with reality like the Greatest Gens were, they would have seen double digit interest rates 5 years ago. And they would have been cut down to size. And it would have given millennials or Zoomers a chance to get on the first rung of the ladder.

You Boomer swine. The fucking nonsense people keep attributing to Millenials is socio economic. It's got fuck all to do with generation.
It's just as stupid as saying that the degeneracy of the Waimar German republic and the squalor was a character flaw in the generation of the day. Or for that matter, the conditions between the wars in every country. It was a time of monetary inflation and fuckery.
Millenials today are 23 to 38 mother fucking years old. Most of the shit you see young people doing today are Zoomers. Not fucking millennials.

Aptly said ...
The Silent Generation is the demographic cohort following the Greatest Generation and preceding the baby boomers. Demographers and researchers use mid-to-late 1920s as starting birth years and early-to-mid 1940s as ending birth years, with 1928 to 1945 a widely accepted definition
No its not.The data and the facts clearly show this time, that one generation had it better than the one before (Greatest Gen) it and the one after.(Millenials) So Boomers should shut the fuck up. Im not making a character judgement on Boomers. But they are making a character judgement on us. Im just saying that they had it better.
