Just glad there's still some left for the rest of us.
I did love a lunch around the old square in Brussels; just a lovely way to spend time, relaxing, looking around, menu of the day - used to be 10 euros back then, maybe 15 euros for some 3 course menus...

^^^^ I did long term ofice work in Paris a few years ago and took advantage for regular long weekends back to Bristol to see the folks. I found Easyjet spot on if you're travelling alone with no check-in baggage. I find very little difference between budget airlines and regular economy these days.

Yeah, I agree for short flights. Even compared to business class, get an isle seat and read a magazine for 40 minutes...

Go used to be really good, I think they were stated as BA's budget airline, but probably too good and didn't last long...

Life is very good thanks Terrance; I'm happy with the way things turned out; I have a very pleasant life, do stuff I like, work a reasonable amount of hours and go on as many holidays a year as I want (which is something I love doing, as most of us on here do)...

I wouldn't fancy working in Bkk again though, did it once for around 10 years, it was good at the time, but wouldn't do it again.

    Gotta totally disagree with that.

Unlike some he is mostly upbeat, seems to have a nice family life and shares it on here.

There's a lot of hostility and bitching on here right now and we are not all gonna get along but Nam Pik is a good example and I think a nice guy, Jack meoff and Chitty too.

Then theres you and your click of Ray, Ant, Nev, Snubby and AO who bring mainly negativity and needless endless shitfights to the place eapecially when its against a poster you don't like. Be it Fart, Nam Pik, Chitty, Your Daddy, Smeg... there will be a few I forgot

Just the impression I get and I'm sure many others. No offence intended to any of the above but Batty seems a lot happier than the lot of you most of the time and would be the biggest loss to the forum.

I was trying to find out the overall travel, home to station/airport, station/airport experience, on-time departure/arrival, on-board conditions/facilities - food, comfort, working/daydreaming environment ...., arrival station/airport experience, journey to meeting. Both there and back.

As the thread has become somewhat an overall travel experience of major cities.

My last experience of UK rail travel was fine. I booked a London to Manchester return ticket, selected a carriage/seat - ensuring a power point and quiet carriage.

A mid morning departure, tube from Brixton to Kings Cross, on-time departure, uneventful journey to Manchester to see my son and his new American, Texas born, wife. They met me at the station and we went back to their flat via an Uber taxi, my first experience of the system and then off to their favourite curry house, chatting, catching up, good food and beer and then back to sleep

The next morning the return trip was again was good. My son and I walked to a Manchester tram station, coldish but bright autumn day. My son left me on the tram to go to work and I waited in the mainline station until my train was due. Decent coffee and croissant, wifi, service..... Busy but not crowded.

Found my carriage and seat, with table and power, 4 seats facing each other all booked, but only myself initially for the entire journey.

A second person arrived and then two together and the carriage seemed pretty full. The first guy was quiet. The next two were obviously off to a business meeting and were confirming that their preparations were complete, their offering was sound and they had all the bases covered.

A good use of time I thought and they were obviously on top of the opportunity. As we arrived in London and waited to disembark, I said good luck and they grinned and replied thank you.

At another meeting with two of my other sons for lunch that day, I was introduced to the younger one's girlfriend. It transpired she was in advertising, so I recalled my trip to her and suggested it would make a good ad for the train company. My fee would only be 10%.

At our last meeting in Texas she remembered our conversation but no proposal had been devised. So my 10% is 'in the air" currently.

Overall a fine two days, travel and company great.

    Here are a few examples:

    Right, funny story time...

We did the interactive element for Big Brother, and for the first season I went to the Channel 4 end of season party - big affair, lots of drinks and free food, celebs around ("b" list wankers); just a Friday night piss up at Channel 4s expense. But, they wanted to make a big thing out of it so left disposable cameras on every table, so folks could take pictures of the night.

I got quite pissed, and at the time, had a prince albert (as you do...), so I went around, camera by camera, picking them up, popping to the loo and taking several pics of my cock on all and every one of the disposable cameras... I had a mate who worked at C4, and apparently the bigwigs were right pissed off and desperately tried to find out who did it...

I did a recce around my new office area last weekend and I reckon living around Saphan Kwai BTS will be the best bet.
There seem to be quite a few apartments / condos in the area (most within my rental budget) and plenty more under construction.
Somewhere in between the BTS station and my office leaving me with a 15(ish) minute walk to either would be ideal.
Having said that it was a dry day and particularly cool weather on Saturday morning when I walked around.

I don't think Bangkok is a particularly great place for a young child to grow up though so I think my wife and daughter will be staying in Kanchanaburi and I will go back there at weekends.

    Agree completely.

Partly why I got the fok out of there.

And partly because it's a shithole.
