I know this has been done to death but flogging a dead horse (nice usage of two related sayings in one sentence) seems apropos.
I was at the KLCC yesterday renewing my passport at the Aussie High Comm, which is just across the street from it (separate thread on this), and decided to do some grocery shopping at the ISETAN in the complex.
Looking at the non-halal section there was this Brit, in his early 60s I'd guess, who was whining to the cashier that he couldn't use paywave there . . . at the main check-out yes, but the halal section only has one basic card reader.
So, he's going on about how backward etc..., back in UK you can use it anywhere etc..., his Maybank AMEX has paywave etc... The lady behind the counter was constantly apologising, which seemed to give him a boost in his whining. He wasn't being aggro, just a whining pain.
So, I turned to him and said (nicely) that he wasn't in the UK and he might be surprised that all is not as he thinks it it.
So, he started to tell me that he'd worked for Petronas for 18 years, all over the world . . . yadda yadda yadda . . . and that he was retiring and going 'back to UK' where his wife lives.
I have no reason to doubt him and wished him luck living back 'in UK' and he immediately says that he'll move to Italy because of Brexit and that the UK isn't a good place to live.
Sigh . . .
Anyway, whiners and whingers, I'm sure we've all met them , even have them here
