NANA - I Remember the Time

I remember the short time the time that we had
I remember the things that use to make you mad
And I wish I could turn back the time
And I wish there wouldn't cry every night
    I remember the time

    ---

Ah NANA ... I remember the time when I was a and stayed @ the Dynasty Inn

Never did stay in the NANA Hotel though.
    Nor went to their nightclub.
    Any good?

I do remember sitting in the Top Dog till 2.10am, waiting for the thunderstorm to pass,
then out into the throng of BG's, freelancers and being offered a beer by a kid who should
still been at school, naively giving him the money and now, thinking about it, remembering that
he actually came back with a cold Heineken.

    I remember the time ...

Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

I was a regular at the Die-Nasty too, and the company always picked up the tab . Was living in the PI but working in India or Bangladesh or some such total fucking shithole and had to overnight on the way in/out every 4 or 5 weeks. Well probably didn't have to, but my travel agent was under strict instructions to make it look that way and with the internet being in its infancy at that time, the bean counters in Houston knew no better .

That was in the 90's, Nana was simply sensational for a single bloke with a pocket full of gold who'd just spent a month or more without getting his dick wet, or a few hours without it seeing any action if flying to work. Either way, it was awesome!.

I would have to agree! I was working 28 x 28 in some shithole countries and kept a small apartment on Soi 4 from about 93 to 96, the bars and more so the girls will never reach the high standards they had back then!
Mobile phones were still in their infancy and far to expensive for the average bar girl as Thaksin controlled the monopoly! Girls had to go to the bar for business.

back in the day - yes. very good. After the go-go bars closed, a lot of the girls headed over to the nightclub, plus loads of freelancers. It went on until -what 4 am or 5am? Great place for a few hours.

In those days if you knew the girls well, they would often come back with you just for the pleasure of a decent bed, shower and aircon.

Nev, about what year was that?

Did you prefer Silom or Soi Cowboy more ... or just not your scene?

    ---

    Edit ... or Washington Sq?

Remembering Nana? As if none of you dirty old bastards don't still frequent the place.

I've seen you sly old dogs with white hair, no morals or shame slink off hand in hand with some brass young enough to be your granddaughter, the other hand clutching a kamagra gel, heading straight for the short time rooms on the 3rd floor.

Fair play I'm gonna be the same when I grow up

Jesus Noober, everyone remembers the girlfriend experience. I used to have a couple of freebies on the go from The Cathouse there.

    Edit ... or Washington Sq?
    The early 2000s.

I went to Soi Cowboy once. Only went to one bar as far as I recall. The bar was OK as far as bars go, but nothing to write home about. I've never been to Washington Square as far as I know. Silom? Not sure. What's there apart from shops?

And next to the Cathouse was Titty Twister owned by some dodgy AF Indian named Santos, had some good times in there . Never had any freebies though, couldn't afford them.

I remember going there for a breakfast beer off one of the sandpit early arrivals.

Because it was my mate's birthday, I rang the bell (there was a mamasan and one girl).

Before the fucking thing even stopped ringing, about 20 birds appeared all in either towels with wet hair or still half asleep in jammies or nighties.

And it still only cost me about Bt500.

    Those were the days....

Could understand how that might apply today - or up to the last ten years. Not what it use to be.

Back in the day, was a friendly and inviting area without the blatant commercial pushiness and pretense.
A whole different way about it.

As Nid has mentioned - almost universally social and relaxed. As well as the indifference to the hours of operation.

He was Sri Lankan. Did a runner from the Middle East with profits from a bar he ran and used it to build a little Nana empire.

All came crashing down and I think he ended up in nick because the Thai partners fucked him.

You soon tire of that scene. I'd imagine it still being great to someone who has never witnessed Bangkok before.

What were the Opium dens like back in the day, Pops?

Did you go before 6pm or something?

I dunno how you could be underwhelmed when you could jump in jacussiz with naked birds or belt the fuck out of them or Shove a load of ping Pong balls down your pants and be ravaged by 30 bints

Mid to late 80's. White Rabbit and Woodstock were to me the places that made it a special place. You could get anything you wanted, but not sleazy in the least really.
