Therefore not knowing in advance can cause offense? Personally I have no time for labels. If anyone finds offense with this, please feel free to add them to whichever collective noun you are most comfortable with.

Meanwhile, I will be assiduously not giving a toss.

Yup. Self-obsessed people taking themselves way too seriously, and falling all over themselves to be 'offended' on behalf of other people they don't even know. Please..

I kinda agree with Ant; it's no big deal calling people what they wanna be called, especially when there's so much death and destruction in the world, it's such a small thing.

What I am against is when it becomes law or there's huge conventional pressure to adhere to these new 'norms' which are often absurd. There's so much re-framing and abuse of discourse and discourse conventions by these new 'liberals' and 'neo-liberal globalists' that it feels like a totalitarian state that's dehumanizing to the majority while foregrounding the rights of the minority, trying to make everybody the same or adhere to the same cultural conventions - the human race is better while celebrating difference, so yes, speak nicely to folks and call him/her they if it makes them happy, but don't make it law and don't force people to use the terms under social pressure. It should be a choice, and some people will make different choices. That's fine. I mean, if somebody is making an unusual choice to be called they instead of he/she then they can't really expect everyone to follow them - we'd be in lemming territory...

I have no problem with calling someone born a 'he' 'she', or the other way around. Even 'it' I'd be OK with.

    'They' is just fcuking ridiculous

They is apparently the way to address people in the business world. My brother is a bank manager and he had to take a course on how to address people as they, as to not offend transgender people. He said him and his staff are used to greeting people by the name that comes up when they insert their bank card, but some people will get offended if they haven't changed their legal name and say I am Tina, not Tom or such. I think it is so politically correct, it is insane.

WTF is the matter with these snowflakes, that they get offended?

If I wanted to wear a big frock, stick on some false tits and prance down Kingston High Steet, I wouldn't give a flying fcuk if passersby called me a 'he', 'she', 'they', 'twatting cross-dresser' or 'sexy lady'.

People are so sensitive.... bunch of pansies....

Edit: and if they want to address me by what's on my bank card, then 'Electronic User' is my new name

Some people are struggling to find their place in the universe. It takes so very little effort to accommodate a person to address he/her/them/it by the gender, or lack of gender, whatever...so why get worked up over it?

A bit odd to me, but seeing as it has no impact on my own life...whatever. Live and let live, and most importantly, leave me (it,the, she,he,she hulk) alone.

i don't see how that would be the case. thus, the announcement from this singer who's letting people know this is the preferred pronoun.

Hah, not sure, you may want to ask one of them someday. They pay the money for the sex change, so they want to be identified as a man or woman I would have thought, not a 'they'. That is ridiculous.
