I've become a 'hansum' man in Laos...

Since arriving in my new home in Luang Prabang a few weeks ago, I seem to have become attractive to many local woman and female Asian tourists.

Most evenings, I eat in the night market, because there is a choice of healthy salads and the price is low (20,000 kip = 69 baht).

I've noticed more than few young Lao women smile at me in an apparently-friendly manner and say 'Sabai dee', whilst not pushing whatever they're hawking on me.

In the night market, everyone sits at communal tables. Japanese and Chinese women smile and say hello to me

I assumed that either I'd forgotten to zip up my jeans and was giving everyone a free eyeful. Or perhaps they assumed that I was some old guy suffering from dementia, and were smiling in sympathy.

Whatever, but it makes a nice change from Thai women, who stopped smiling at me around 2004....
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile

I'm with HL, pics please. I'm sure the collective wisdom of the TD members can help determine if they have a genuine or commercial interest. Could be both, depending on what they are selling.

It's the new look fitness regime, you've only yourself too blame.

Invest in a stick so you can fight them off.

Offer one a meal and get a selfie for us, we can take the advice from there

The Chinese and Japanese women want to sell me stuff???

Recall my comment about the Lao street-sellers..

Perhaps they're gagging for some Simon action.

Perhaps they are fond of their absent grandparents and miss them greatly.

Perhaps they feel the same tug at the heartstrings that a Downs Syndrome child excites because they know that although you look a bit weird you're really nice deep down.

Perhaps they're dilating at the possibility of some enormous throbbing member.

The possibilities are endless and almost certainly unverifiable. Unless there's some pictures posted.

I recall from my trip to LP that the atmosphere was friendly and laid back. My thai companion said it was what thailand was like 40 years ago. Made her quite sad for what thailand has lost.

Enjoy it simon, just folks being friendly.

This is fantastic news, Simon, for the women of Laos; one of whom, the lucky ticket winner, while she won't get a trip around Willy Woner's Chocolate factory, she can be expecting her hotel, built to order, coming very soon.

I love a hotel building picture thread...

Actually, agree with Uncle Nid been quite a few times to Lao and they are much more friendly and relaxed - just enjoy, the tourists and chinks will wipe that smile away idc, sadly.

They were being friendly to a lonely old man sitting by himself in order to sell something

Lonely old man goes back to room and jerks off

It was probably your rugged good looks, the laughter lines and that bulge in your pants....Your wallet.
