Technical question - can you guys see my avatar ?
I ask because I never see it on my posts.

Ta for that.
Turns out that I'd thought a profile picture was an avatar.

Bogon was what my girl used to call her grandmother for some reason when she first started talking.
The avatar because it looks like me.
I chose my nic because I had been in Thailand twice and both times there was a military takeover. The tradition held when I visited many years later for the third time and again there was a military takeover. The tradition was broken in my very recent visit for the simple reason that the military was already in power.
My avatar pic I chose only because I find it fascinating. Was quite a job to compress it enough to fit as avatar.
"don't attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence"
^ I remember that shitfest.
tbh, I can only ever see her rotating CW, so find it fascinating for a different reason.
I'd never been on a forum before. Just signed up...a decade ago....to read one article a Bangkok-based friend had told me to take a look at....involved the arrest of a mutual friend. I signed in in true name because I thought you had to......as it's an expat forum....except for a few......I used my first passport picture as my avatar.
The avatar is a Victor Moscovo poster design to promote a concert by the Chambers Brothers in San Francisco back in the 60s.
It caught my eye when browing the internet one day.
I've had a few nics over the years. My very first last century was Zevon simply because I liked his music but found out he was a real dick so dropped it (should have kept it)
I chose the current name as I was pretty depressed at the time and thought it apt
My avatar is a cartoon version of myself and my children plus its their favourite movies.
My name come from a movie we have watched hundreds of times and my favourite tipple when in Thailand.
Got a couple of questions from post #19.
The reported bogan capital of Australia I read about and lived in was Wyoming on the Central Coast, just north of Sydney. I was in Singapore late 2009 till end 2012, lived at Simei since I was consulting to a business out near the airport.
Celebrating my new more appropriate avatar. Thought I'd go for a younger look, retain the mullet while being a little modern and out there on the front of head hair. Currently looking for a lowered second hand pre-2000 Commodore so I can upgrade my wheels. Life is good! Anyone seen my thongs?
...tomcat: sly and devious forum ass bandit...SD came up with the avatar...
I joined here to ask about a TH-Cm border crossing that wasn't popular, as I was planning my route for a backpacking trip. When I finally did that trip, turned out that I used the popular border crossing after all - for safety & logistics reasons.
My nic is one of the names my friends call me. The pic is of my backpack + shoulder bag that I've used in many trips, including the one mentioned above. Those bags are retired now. Have new ones which are similar in look!
