Thread: What does an immigration officer earn?

I have to say how I hate farangs that say it's okay for badly paid immigration officers to ask for tea money to boost their poor pay. I dunno what they consider as badly/poorly paid. But from what I can make out is they're a lot better off than the farangs they're scamming.

Is it any wonder that Thais chase government-based positions where their salaries don't reflect any such role of reasoned responsibility nor importance [with the exception of teachers, of course] to society.

I just asked the Missus if she thought this was accurate and she said "Yes" sounds about right to her.
So since I have been abused many times and often called a prick (or worse) I think I want to become an Immigration Officer.
Imagine getting paid that much to just create angst for people like Mr Pragmatic, actually I would probably do it for less as it would be fun!

Anyway back to reality, Prag did you go and apply for your new Visa yet?

It's fair to say that if they work at Chang Wattana they earn every Baht.

Dealing day in day out with Falang who cannot get their head around Immigration requirements would do ya in.

It's no wonder some of them get real fookin nasty eh.

$15 an hour to deal with mad and confused westerners all day. Not exactly a dream job.

Keeping in mind that not all of them speak English or Thai either so they have a wide variety of foreigners from various countries many with nasty pissy attitudes that cannot fill out simple forms and argue with them.

IMHO, they should get "hazard pay"

The last time i attended Chang Wattana there were some farang who looked like they had just crawled out the back of a shit carting truck.

Nasty looking old fukers and backpacking filth with elephant pants on and covered in shit tatts stinking like an arsehole full of maggots.

Then there was me, a lovely dressed very respectful bastard who had all his ducks in a row and was awesome to deal with.
