I think being disappointed with what you read in a news article is a pretty poor reason to never want to return to the UK.

genuine question, neverna: when was the last time you lived back in the west.

western culture has been strongly influenced by political correctness the last few decades.

especially when coming from thailand where thais are pretty open and upfront about what they think, in the west these days (like in the office) people censor themselves which leads to conversations that are less "real", as it were, IMO.
