I see shirts like that here all the time Prag. They have absolutely no clue. Its what makes it all so funny here. You can't make this stuff up. I saw this petite Thai gal the other day had a T shirt on that said "Leave me alone or I will kick your ass" but it had a cute little smile face with it.

As for racists, Every country has people that do not like or care for other races or religions. Its the human race as we are.

I don't think it right to describe them as racist, more fucking stupid, ignorant and utterly clueless might be a tad more accurate. The thing is, they are indoctrinated from birth to believe Thailand is the centre of the universe and perforce the people are inherently superior to all others which is a bit of a stretch when many have all the intellectual acuity of a small tree,

No, not at all, I pretty much despise everyone irrespective of their ethnicity generally because they are usually stupid, ignorant, deluded or just plain addled. A racist imputes some inferiority in others simply because of their ethnicity or a superiority based on the same criterion. In many societies there are greater agglomerations of stupidity etc, e.g. Americans, Thai, Welsh, Brexiteers and in those groups there may be a preponderance of certain ethnicities but that's merely coincidence.

It's foreigners and not all foreigners are farang (or even the same race) so more plain old price-gouging and also a reflection of the fact foreigners for the most part don't pay taxes here.

Bollocks Ant, we all pay VAT. And there's not a farang shacked up with a Thai who does not pay for the maintenance of their immediate family in some respect which is as much a tax as anything a government might levy given it is impossible to avoid.

And I’m sure the park fee collectors wouldn’t dream of pocketing the difference.

When I visited India I found them to be more callous than the Thais when fleecing Johnnie Foreigner.

Which tourists can get refunded. I'm talking about income taxes.

My hometown does the same thing based on rates levied by the council. Locals get in for free, all other visitors and tourists (incl. other Kiwis) have to pay.

In referencing 'us' I was referring to we resident farang who get no such refund.
