Loved Canada parades as a kid. My grandfather was in the city pipe band. To this day the sound and pomp of a pipe band makes me remember the excitement we kids had on Canada Day.

I spent a good 8 years in Alberta, sang "Oh Canada" at my citizenship ceremony and of course every Saturday night with the ice hockey crowd. Great place then, sure it still is.

Doubt he ever paid a penny in taxes. He was a prototypical mountain man guy.

Initially Calgary city suburbs and moved out to the sticks, various rural route "acreages". First to Calgary's east. flat prairies coyotes, hawks, jackrabbits and swallows; then to the south west, the Rocky Mountains foothills, eagles, coyotes, bears, deer and moose were are fauna.

My lack of knowledge of Trans Canada Highway snow shed design is legendary.

"What's that rebar grill for on the large drainage pipe for"? I asked.

"To stop the bears hibernating in it and blocking it up", was the Polish project manger's laboured reply.
