Police investigate the suspected suicide of a German tourist in Ao Nang district of Krabi province on Tuesday

KRABI: A 40-year-old German tourist was found dead in a room at a hotel in Ao Nang district of this southern province with a plastic bag covering his head and tied around his neck.

The tourist was found dead on the bed in a room on the sixth floor of the luxury hotel on Tuesday afternoon, said police.

The man's name was withheld pending notification of relatives. Dressed in shorts and a long-sleeved shirt, the man's head was covered by a green plastic bag fixed to his neck with duct tape. They believed he had died one or two days earlier.

Police said there was no sign of bruising on the man's body, and no traces of a struggle. His belongings, including his notebook computer, his passport, credit cards and cash, remained untouched. Two glasses of water were found on a desk.

Hotel staff told police that the tourist was travelling alone.

He was last seen on Sunday morning when he ordered room service breakfast. After he was not seen for two days, a hotel staff member opened the door and found his body, said police.

Not dissing the report, sounds like suicide, though far from no evidence of a struggle or bruising I'd imagine asphyxiation would result in a brief and uncontrollable fight for air which would leave signs of struggle and probably bruising. Unless he was well doped up it wouldn't be a case of sealing the bag over his head and lying down peacefully to die.

The first thing yo do when you are suffocating is to try and stop what is causing it and in this case a plastic bag around your head so you would automatically rip it off for sure, so this is a case for Teakdoor CSI ,

Would have to be an industrial strength bag, or would take no time to claw at and puncture it. No mention of a puncture, definitely one for TDCSI.

David Carradine was a copycat, the original was Stephen Milligan.

"Milligan's corpse was found naked except for a pair of stockings and suspenders, with an electrical flex tied around his neck, a black bin liner over his head and an orange in his mouth"

Good to see he went off after a hearty breakfast
I imagine he took a few tablets and the green bag was one of the larger ones. Plenty of time to set himself up for it.

Ordinarily I'd say the same but this is Thailand and the plastic bags here are different gravy, they'd have defeated Geoff Capes

If I remember, reports at the time stated that the police actually found him wearing a Manchester United shirt, but they redressed him to spare the family embarrassment.

Man's death closes Thai restaurant in Windsor
    Posted Jun 10, 2019

WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) - The discovery of a body in an upstairs apartment forced the closure of a Thai food restaurant below in Windsor.

According to police, a reddish brown liquid was reportedly dripping through the ceiling into the Siam Corner Thai Kitchen & Pho restaurant at 199 Broad St.

They were first called about it on May 29.

A woman said she hadn't heard from a neighbor in several days. The owner of a nearby barbershop also said he hadn't seen the neighbor for at least six days.

When police arrived to the address, an employee from the restaurant told them that there was a foul odor and an odd fluid coming from the ceiling behind the front counter.

Officers went to the upstairs apartment to perform a well-being check, but had to enter through an unlocked window.

They found a man dead in his bed.

They believe he had been there for several days and started to decompose.

Police were able to confirm his identity through his wallet, which contained his driver's license. They did not release the man's identity.

The cause of death appeared to be natural causes, according to a paramedic who was called to the scene. No foul play is suspected.

Police said medications for heart failure and high blood pressure were also found.

Eyewitness News checked with a town building official who said renovations at the restaurant are not related to this incident.

Town officials learned through the investigation the ceiling was not up to fire code.

His oozing body fluids through the ceiling may have saved lives. A true hero. Give the man a medal.

Reminds me of the murdered woman dumped in a rooftop water tank, and the residents complaining about an odd taste in the brownish water. Can't remember if it was Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore...

Not identified, no foul play, could be Thaksin.

Back OT, this story really drives home why we should ban single-use suicide plastic bags everywhere.

Or, at least charge an extra fee for their use.

So there must have been another person in the room prior to death. The 'smoking gun' is the extra glass of water. Twas murder or assisted suicide IMO.

I think they threw that false clue in as a diversion, makes the astute reader think there were two people, could've been four or six or he deliberately put the second glass there to confound CSI.

Man I'll tell you, tainted water will do that to you. I don't have total recall as well.
