I was originally prescribed morphine but dislike the side effects, chronic constipation being the least of them, so I use Tramadol instead.
I don't use them a lot maybe 2 - 4 a day and occasionally a bit more if needs must.
So, about a year ago we went to the local pharmacy here in the village and bought 1,000 capsules for 3,000 Baht. Fair enough.
I'm getting to the end of them now so asked if we could order some more.
"Sure, no problem" said the delightful young shop assistant/owner. "It'll cost you 6,000 Baht for 1,000 capsules".
"Why has it doubled in price?" I asked.
She mumbled some thing about 1 of the 3 manufactures closing down, hence the increase.
Now, I try not to be overly cynical here in the Land of Smiles but this strikes me as absolute bullshit.
Sure, things go up in price and, very very occasionally, down due to demand or whatever but why the fuk a doubling in price in a year?
It's not as if the production of Tramadol is dependent on the weather or the effects of Trump on the worlds general levels of pain.
I really don't understand it. Is she simply trying to rip me off?
So, if any of you fine young/old members happen to be in a pharmacy here in Thailand, could you inquire as to the cost of TRAMADOL and let me know.
Cheers.
