Mariam Nabatanzi, 39, a mother of 38 children, takes a family portrait with some of her children at their home in Kasawo village, Uganda.


Mariam Nabatanzi gave birth to twins a year after she was married at the age of 12. Five more sets of twins followed — along with four sets of triplets and five sets of quadruplets.

Mariam Nabatanzi was married at age 12 and started having multiple sets of twins shortly after.

Married at 12.... perpetually pregnant . IMO many compromised lives here. No childhood for her, no adulthood other than taking care of kids, Not enough hours in the day for a close relationship between mother and child. IMO very sad.
