The Nest Tuesday or The Tuesday After or something about Tuesday also. same voice supposed to be a sequel (prequel?) To Cannery Row.
I kept dog eared, ratty ol' copies of them books with me for ages. Finally traded 'em for a collection of beat writers few months ago.

There are so many books out there that I believe a nice little book review thread would go down well.
Looking round a well stocked bookshop i never have a clue what to buy.
Not like that boring "what are you reading right now' thread on the ajarn a real review type thread which would almost prove you'd read the book.

I've read portions of it and would like to read it. Where she describes living with jack kerouac and Neal Cassidy seems she was fucking them both there for a while. She appears to be a fairly good writer. Also have some of Neal Cassidy's letters to JK and there is an unfinished autobiography. Neal Cassidy was an Interesting charachter in history.
In my opinion, Neal Cassidy played a big part in forming the mood & movement of the sixties, in the influence he had on so many of the progenitors; Kerouac, Ginsberg, Ken Kesey come to mind right off the top of me head; these folks then meeting, and collaborating with the SF Renaissance Poets of the Fifties. Really the birth of the hippie movement.

I've been toying with the idea of an essay, or article, on this street thug's influence on society. A tenuous connection but one that, as you read the history of the times, becomes undeniable.
Spent a good deal of time in Vesuvios and the City Lights Books store. And specs? Great little dive. You'd be sippin' a suds and maybe it'd dawn on you. You were sitting in the cradle of one of the most tumultuous times in recent history. Coupla more beers and all that faded into the shadows unless the little hottie you're hittin on had some pretentious beatnik bent.

I read CMN's post on Ajarn that he was reading a Wild Sheep Chase by Muarakmi - there are some who would jump to a Freudian conclusion when a Welshman chooses this title - not me.....Anyhows, I'm English and even I can appreciate the damn attractiveness of the sheep on the front cover - give it a wipe over before you trade it in CMN, there's a good chap.....Seriously though, if you enjoyed this try Ghostwritten by David Mitchell - I also posted this recommendation on Ajarn, and I don't like to repeat myself, but this is worth it......mind you I'm only on page one hundred, it might turn out to be crap, but I doubt it.
