London Police Told to Do Their Job, not to Work on Behalf of a Private Company...

    Quite interesting video snippet.

If you or I tried this we'd be arrested then fitted up with some breach of the peace or some such nonsense, but because a former Mayor of London expresses his rights the police look rather confused...

I'm not so sure of that. It was a public thoroughfare and the guy was sure of it and sure of his rights. If you or I had the same confidence and remained polite, I see no reason why we'd get arrested.

Yeah they did. They had a kneejerk reaction to a complaint from a corporation's security, but were then faced with reality and realised the guy had a point. He had the only point.

^^ Badder's point is relevant, and I was also wondering exactly where they were situated because the Met police and the City of London police are different.

The British police forces can be unpleasant and find a 'crime' like disturbing the peace, and these ones certainly intended to stop the filming/remove Livingstone, but were phased certainly by his knowledge, but I suspect his celebrity and the fact it was on film were also concerns for them.

Indeed, but I'm not sure exactly of their due process either. Livingstone certainly implies/states that they are working for the Major of London which suggests they are Met Police offices, also being in Stratford, I think that could be outside the City of London in SE1 - I'm not sure exactly where they were.

The Met and the City of London police are different forces. The UK does not have a national police force. It has 46 police forces.

    Westfield Stratford City, London.

Here's the location on Google Maps. https://www.google.co.th/maps/@51.54....0061058,17.5z

    Right.

So that's a long way outside the City of London, so standard Met police officers.

Mayor of London, therefore not the Lord Mayor therefore London City (including the City of Westminster) and therefore not the City of London.

wrong on so many points there bet... if u go to any police station,, if u can find one, u can lay down the law to them. in another life it was a hobbie of mine.... done same on that film a couple of times... i have stories, ud call BS on. if u dont/cant stand firm society is fucked for sure.

Mayor of London is the head of the executive body of the Greater London Authority. His jurisdiction is policed by the Metropolitan Police. Black and white hat band

Lord Mayor of London is the City of London's mayor and leader of the City of London Corporation. His jurisdiction is policed by the City Of London Police. Red and white hat band.
