Beer Bar Etiquette

Heck, I don't think anyone tips in the UK, do they? When I first got to Thailand, nobody tipped. Then the spoil sports arrived (oh, the staff only makes Bt100 a day, boo hoo) and started throwing red bills around. I decide if I get good service, good food and I feel sated; then I'll tip (I'm not a cheapie, but WTF, it's a custom thing). I'm with Marmers on the service/tax added; that's my contribution in the bill, but I rarely ate anywhere that fancy. In Vanc, we have to tip 20% or expect never to see a server near our table.

Do not monopolize the music selection or harass the dj or take over the sound board.

Do not sing rugby/football songs at loud drunken volume!

and of course always tip the DJ..:pat:

What do you do when you are sitting in a bar and the resident ugly old trollop - who is held in deep respect by the other girls - decides to monopolise you. How do you get rid of her in favour for a more nubile option without causing offence (she may scare the other girls away from you with a fierce Issan screech). actually this monly happens in the more dodgy Cowboy establishments rather than R1 or R4... Nevertheless Butterflys wisdom on how to gracefully get rid of a pestering whore would be interesting.

One of the most infuriating things about buying a girl a drink in a go go bar is when she has to go and dance 2 minutes after she has taken a sip and you have to sit there like a lemon for about 20 minutes until she has finished her round of the chrome poles.
New Living Dolls 1 in Pattaya seems to have a policy that the girls do not have to dance while they are sitting with a customer who has bought them a drink.
They employ a huge number of very attractive girls to be able to do this.
They also have a top bar fine price of 400 baht so that makes them the No.1 go go in Pattaya in my humble opinion.

What's that got to do with leaving a tip or etiquette?

Bollocks. Where did you here such nonsense? Living Dolls is operated by the same perv who operates Happy across the street. Barfines are 600 baht, unless it's after 2 am, when the barfine drops to 200 baht. All girls have to dance, no matter what. Doesn't matter if you buy them a drink. Unless they've changed the rules in the past few months.

- IT IS NOT OK TO BE RUDE with the ugly bargirls who want to sit next to you and engage in conversation. In true Thai style, you can completely ignore her after she shake your hand, just staying there looking at the other girls in the stage. She will get the message, no words need to be spoken. If she really insists, then act like you are drunk and just look at her with a blank stare, that will scare her off. If that really doesn't work, then tell her you are here to enjoy the music and watching the girls and you are not interested into buying anyone a drink as you have little cash with you. That should take care of things. In the extreme case that none of these work, a "FUCK OFF" with a dirty look should do the trick.

I could give it another try, but every time I went there always full of old guys, with older girls (most holding office jobs in the daytime). I did shag one from there once after we meet during the daytime, not far from her regular workplace.

WEasy - wait five minutes before buying her a drink. It helps sort out the friendly ones from the greedy ones, and it will save you a considerable amount of money in the long run........

I was told this by a guy in Pattaya many years ago, if you don't want a girl to sit next to you, when she asks what you do for a job, tell her you drive a taxi, guaranteed to work every time.

I cant even be bothered to answer this foolish post. Despite myself I will post this question to the uncolourful-era - wahts the point of going to these types of bars of bars if you aren't going to hang with the girls? alternatively, whats the point of business men running these bars if punters arent going to buy these girls drinks?
Would you moan if all girlie bars were closed? probably.
There is a trade-off - you buy them drinks and they squirm on your lap.
If no one bought lady drinks then they would all close.

Don't show up in black socks, flip flops and shorts, unkempt, unshaven, unshowered, sweating and utterly lacking in deodorant.... although it might keep away the lady-drinkers (and everyone else!)
