    Hongnam yousie why why.

So while in Asia I surmised why the feet are are taboo. It is because of all they have to go through.

With that in mind I've decided to dedicate this the Hong Nam thread. I'll show a few here. The good the bad and the ugly.

This may be an eye opener for some. Others get the drill and shrug it off as normal. Like those of us who venture out into the real world, this isn't Kansas anymore.

Feel free to post up yours if so inclined. I have in the past and may start with my guest half bath.

It's a crap shoot from there so here goes.

The half bath back home. Note the fish theme.
Like I said, it's a crap shoot so close your eyes if you think you can't deal with the realities of life in Asia. It is like traveling through another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and of sound but of mind.

The next stop, the hong nam zone.

Hongnam yousie why why.-20161203_180314-jpgThis was from the boat builders crib Dec 2016. Not too bad, too good nor too ugly. We'll get there if I can get my phone to work.

The bungalow at the commanders sisters place in Salavan. This was nice and the crazy part was after breakfast the next morning when I asked to settle up the tab for three rooms she said no charge, any time.
I love it when people don't look at me like an ATM.

Ok on to the next pic.

Sometimes I think I should take you off 'ignore'.

Then I think I should ignore that thought.

I'm just trying to make light of the situation and let folks like those Tesla owners realize there may be no place like thier basement bunkers even if it drives them bonkers.

Show us a pick of your digs and lifestyle. I'm not a judgmental person. Obviously or do you think I would be here in the first place.
Just think for one second. I could give a crap and everyone does. That's the beauty of this thread.

The good, the bad and the ugly. Live a little and lighten up.

It's all in good fun. Besides what won't kill you makes you stronger. No?

No logs in it so I guess dysentery is the norm.

    As per the pink basket.

^Directed at Cryall. Really, show us what it's like in your neck of the woods.
I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Again, I give two shits.
    Now back to the thread.

At the restaurant at Tad Lo, Salavan.
Again, not bad I thought. I didn't check out any guest houses there as there was no need but am sure they would be decent.

I asked if I could get a job teaching astrophysics at the local school and all I got was a blank stare Skyward.

They said I could allways get a job juggling on elephants on Saturday if I needed an extra 50,000 kip.

I said I'd concider if need be.

That's cool skinny. Where you at? I'm near Pakse now. It's like the wild west years ago. Farmers going to bed early around here.
Right now music off in the distance. If it were not for King Robert I would be passed out.

OK, rephrase. A bit more King Roberts and I may get a nights sleep.

Here's the hongnam in the house that I'm currently renting in Ranong.

    Hongnam yousie why why.-bathroom-jpg

When I moved in, there was only the water trough and scoop for a shower. I installed the shower heater and blue piping to trip over.... At least I can enjoy a warm/hot shower now.

Wall stickers are courtesy of Lazada.

The loo is still a scoop flush one, but toilet duck and loo brush are at hand to remove the brown spots....

Oh - the Thai writing on the wall is in case some stranger uses the shower - the shower pump is not autostart/stop and has to be manually switched off and on.

The pink cup on the left side floating in the water trough holds small packets of butter to keep them cool! (I still haven't bought a fridge)

And pump is fitted appropriately with earthing and RCD, I assume.

Off topic: For those of you with the emergency squeegs in Bangkok I highly reccomend the Radisson Blu near Suk Soi 27. I charged in their last night with my cheeks clenched, its off to the left of the reception desk near the elevators. Toilets at the correct height with automatic flushing, nicely scented (until I got in there) perfect for those spray and pray moments. 5 stars

    I had him in mind.

Funny how people take the simple things in life for granted.

    Life, it's a crap shoot.....
