    Ankle Weights

Does anyone have ankle weights for jogging that they would recommend? Asking for my boy. I have some fairly heavy ones I use for leg lifts, but they ride up on him and cause blisters. I'm not a runner, but presume such items exist, made specifically for jogging. Any thoughts? Will check the sports stores, but not until the idiots all go back to work.

Are the weights to add resistance to leg lifting, thereby building certain leg-lifting muscles, or are they simply for adding extra work to the jogging experience, thereby building cardio and a plethora of muscle groups?

If the former, why is he targetting just those muscles?
If the latter, would ankle weights do anything more than a comfortable backpack filled with weight, weighted fanny pack, scuba weight belt etc?

The act of walking is actually lifting your leg and putting it in front of you to stop falling as you lean forward. This discovery took decades and was only finally understood as scientists needed to find out how to make a robot walk.
    What's he trying to achieve?

In that case, a good tight backpack with bottles of water in it.

Many years ago I bought some and used them a few times but I ended up ditching them. Don't recall why but I think they were a bit too heavy for running. That was in the UK and I don't recall seeing smaller ankle weights around at that time, but like I said it was many years ago so things could be different now.

^Yeah. I found some on Amazon, but would prefer to have hands-on. Guess I'm waiting until the malls thin out.

Give him a pair of your old army boots and your basic training schedule and show him what blisters and trench foot really are. He won't moan again about the ankle pads riding up

Army boots are more convenient than ankle weights in my experience. Even better is to head off into muddy fields to run. There will be plenty of extra weight from the mud on your boots to haul around.
