Thread: How are you seeing the New Year in?

Don't fly until the after the New Year so will be ringing in 2019 in icy Ulanbaator. When it's -31 and smoky out the idea of standing around Sukhbaatar Square for fireworks seems more of an ordeal than a pleasure. Still, that is apparently what people want to do: dinner followed by standing in the cold

A bit of a quirk here that I have mentioned; the first of EVERY month is no booze allowed, so I'm not sure much will happen after midnight.

Staying in sounds like the better option the more I think about it.

New York Time Squarers - hanging round waiting to watch the ball drop at midnight - doesn't matter how cold it is, the place is always packed, people start collecting in mid-afternoon to get a "good view". All standing around shivering with smiles on their faces. Never understood it. Get a better view on the TV.

New Years Eve, midnight is well beyond my bedtime... as is typical we'll be doing our regular temple merit making stuff to stack the karma deck...

Should be slinging about sepandon. Bit windy here now. That clears the smoke and dust. Hell, I did bring another kite. And a Benjamin Franklin. I'll see where that gets me.

If you are a pikey like me, and you mix it with coke/orange and ice, the quality is less apparent. The after effects, not so much.
