Childhood tv, watching together not on a phone alone

Most in my youth had one warm family room a rabbit ear black and white with no remote!You had to get of the couch to change channel!


The BBC Radio Times and TV Times listing mags were nearby as until video arrived there was often only one chance to see the game, Python or the Match, a different era to streaming, Tivo, endless repats on Dave Gold or Utube.

Ah yes Phil Silvers show Bilko the likeable rogue,Doberman was also the voice of Benny the Ball in top cat.

Benny the Ball was voiced by Maurice Gosfield who played Pvt Duane Doberman in The Phil Silvers Show. Benny and Pvt Doberman both shared the same demeanor and rotund appearance




















While nothing like real life, original Porridge was witty and still makes me smile, the others were enoyed at the time

This brings back some memories... morning watching on school holidays...




I often listen to Dad's Army on BBC Sounds. It's been re-adapted for radio and makes a nice alternative to the news when stuck in traffic.
