This was my last (and favourite) flat in Bangkok in about 2008. Can anyone guess the area (an easy one, I reckon)?

I have tried to create a proper seaside garden. Although the beach here is sand, the stone/shingle is still fairly typical of Kent (think Dungeness)

it was quite a job to get the garden level and paved. 9 tonnes of shingle on a compacted membrane. I used i beams to create a sea groyne style front wall. Planting is in progress. Theres a 50cm wide and 70cm deep trench alng wall with good quality top soil for planting. Im planning to excavate several areas to fill with good soil for more planting

so far just lavender, thyme, rosemary, mint and tarragon

Difficult when taking pics deciding if a pic is pointing up or downhill, no doubting with this last one.

Hills are good things for cities.

    Reminds me of Lisbon.

    But well heeled, of course.

Same TC, maybe get over here for a nice brunch. Great ferry ride if no car or a change of pace.

The best thing about working in San Jose was the short drive to SF

Can you believe that San Jose now has a population one and a half times that of SF?

Yes, weird. Started off in Palo Alto and then Sunnyvale, but San Jose as a whole has mushroomed

The last time I went home I parked on that street, or one very similar. I was quite nervous about the parking brake and 1st gear both holding the car from sliding downhill!.

I grew up in Palo Alto, which looks the same physically, but has otherwise changed almost beyond recognition. It was always rather yuppie, but it's just ridiculous now.

I lived in Alameda before coming to Thailand. IMHO Alameda was the nicest Bay Area town to live in.

Inle Lake sometime in 2017. I am really hoping that 2021 will be the year of a effective vaccine or treatment for this [at][at][at][at] of a virus and more international travel.

I was locking up, on my way to bed tonight when I saw this guy hiding behind the blind. I don't think he thought I could see him!

I love these tookays and I love hearing their call. This guy is a very welcome guest.

Yet another species who's survival could soon be in jeopardy due to unrestricted harvesting for Chinese traditional medicine...

Nah... we have a rule here, once they're on our land they're safe. Apart from the dog factor of course.

I don't even like to kill the centipedes or scorpions... they go over our neigbour's wall!

^ I saw a big scorpion the other night. I shone my torch on it and it turned and headed for the neighbours' house. Result.

We had a sudden storm pass through Korat this afternoon... followed by a power cut until mid evening due to several poles going down.

It's amazing how heavy the rain can be, even if short lived.

We lost many branches from the mango trees, several papaya trees and sadly this one, which was my favourite tree in the garden. It was one of those with orange, pungent smelling flowers and was about 13 years old, planted when we built the house.

Discovered a lockdown swinging club on a walk in some secluded woodland today, miles from anywhere.

So after yesterday with the Swan family popping over to say hello in the guise of asking for food, of which i had none i made up for it today with homemade wholemeal bread, oats and bran flakes to keep em regular.

The female was doing the equivalent of dancing under water to stir the bottom up for the signets to feed on, they also get quite hissy demanding food the bossy buggers
