8,700,000 ? Thats a bit steep. Kip, maybe. Not baht. They must have mistakenly added a few zeros. So yea, about 2,310usd.

I never priced them in Laos but the Honda Wave 110cc was going for 1400usd. I think bil paid under 5k for a 650 with a side car. I may be wrong.

This is it and I think it was 4 or 5k. I'll sell you the farm for 8,700,000 baht.

Ok, so it's 231,000 usd. Wow, that seems like a lot for a bike. I must just not know how special this rig is.

In contrast to the Pattaya beach pic. I was fortunate to have recently bought a small holiday home overlooking this beach in SE England. Almost daily there are volunteers picking it clean of the tiniest pieces of litter. I hope to join them. This pic at low tide Spring taken earlier today.

    Arrived at Bergen... probably...

I don't know why the question mark? Norwegian humour I've been told.

It's an art piece. "I wanted to make a piece that said something about the feeling of melancholy in being a modern human, constantly traveling, from airport to airport, and always feeling relaxed. The piece is both existentialist and poetic. It's serious and humouristic at the same time. I think Bergen is a city that tolerates self-irony. Everyone can put their own meaning into the question mark, there's no wrong answer."

The artwork encourages a sense of curiosity and open-mindedness towards the surroundings, and it places a question mark over what we think we know. Bergen? embraces humour, excitement and wonder, expectations and dreams. The artist does not seek to provide textbook answers, instead pointing to the universal human experience of being new to a place. Bergen is the place – but the place for what? The question mark contains an infinitude of possibilities.

    Wtf is this?

One plus point about the increase in Chinese visitors/residents in Luang Prabang is that they have opened a supermarket just about 200 metres away from the house that I've rented.

Apart from the usual range of food products that Chinese like (tiger's dick, bear bile etc), they also stock a great range of healthy foods that are locally-produced, such as nuts, muesli etc.

The pot with my finger in it, (for yes - that is indeed my finger...), is water buffalo yogurt, produced by a local company just outside of LP, a socially-responsible enterprise to help local farmers.

Their website is at Laos Buffalo DairyLaos Buffalo Dairy

From the photo on their website, it is possible that the buffalos are raised on a diet of Beer Lao and fresh dog meat...

Post any pic anytime as many as u like-buffalo-jpg

Anyway, I have to say that the yogurt is delicious, and is sure to become part of my daily diet. I knew this already, but to quote:

"Buffalo milk is extremely nutritional. It is richer in calcium and protein than cow’s milk, and has less cholesterol and sodium.

Buffalo milk is great for healthy bones, dental health and cardiovascular health. It is also a good source of minerals, such as magnesium, potassium and phosphorus.

Buffalo milk also has much higher Vitamin A content than cow’s milk (which is what gives it it’s milky white colour, as opposed to creamy yellow)."

^ For the purists, the best mozzarella comes from buffalo milk, not cow milk.

^^ Crikey, that takes me back ! I had that in India in 1982. Each serving was made in an unbaked clay pot, and I remember it had an oily texture, but not unpleasant taste.

Did you know that the word “selfie” came from Australia?

@tizme - thanks! Re: inflatable water parks, yeah they seem to sprout everywhere. Aside from that one in Talisay (work-related event), I saw one in Puerto Galera (which was in a seldom-used isolated beach 3 years ago, not isolated anymore as of Easter 2019), and another one in Barangay Calayo, Nasugbu, Batangas (jump off point for Bituin Cove).

I wondered where our builder went after he ballsed up our house.

Looks like he's gone down Pattaya way.

That might help to explain why we invented the word ‘fuckwit’ which so amused my first (American) wife.
Much more piquant than ‘selfie’ so maybe we’re lowering our standards.
