Could be just sufficient battery recharge to allow noodle slurping.
Along the river bank lots of exercise machines which are barely used and last count at least 3 gyms, however over 50 eateries in a town of under 3000

Tai chi ch'uan can be practised alone I do the ying form but it is also a group activity and for beginners others can you remind you of the next "phase" of the choreography and there is a good feel to the harmony.I did it with a group in UK and China but herabouts its groups of grannies and I would be a sore thumb
^in Taiwan, specifically Taipei, there were lots of ppl practicing Tai Chi in parks during weekends. It wasn't just grannies, there were yuppies too. I also saw a mixed group - Taiwanese and some white foreigners, probably expats.
In PI, there are tai chi groups but not too common. What's more common is Zumba. Near my place, there's a basketball court. During weekends (and MWF, I think), the Zumba mommies are out there sweating it. Lots of Zumba groups in malls & gyms too.
I do Zumba at home, when it's raining or I wasn't able to do my walk/jog outdoors. I tried jogging in my village for a few times but stopped it, since there are stray dogs. For my runs, there's a nearby track oval that I regularly use.
A park is a park. A public amenity. The fact that Bangkok has a few, is the only positive for the city in my view. Otherwise it’s just an exercise in branding, just to hide the poverty.
Manila is just as bad, but there is no attempt to hide the poor behind glass and steel monoliths. Hence the smoke and mirrors epithet.
When I lived in Singapore, I'd often see old folk doing Tai Chi by themselves out in the heartlands, either in the parks or sometimes just in the grounds surrounding their HDBs (public housing)
Simon, cmon you're an experienced, intelligent guy... but
dumb question
It promotes circulation end
Ps: shaking legs, arms, neck, hips, etc. is highly recommended pre-yoga postures.
irHick, I can go with the circulation bit. But why do they only shake their arms? I don't see them shaking their legs and I certainly don't see them doing yoga or jogging or doing HIT or doing fcuking anything to get their heart beating or to get the lard off their bodies.
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile
Got given that "Insanity" workout on a pen drive today, too full of early Thanksgiving food, but will give it a whirl tomorrow-erm, it looks intense
Why do asians wave their arms?
That's easy. So the bus driver can see them.
