    Possibly yes, but most likely only because of TV programmes.

    MCMLXXV sticks in the memory for some reason. Maybe that's when I found out they were Roman numerals.

    From skeletons found they have a good idea how the resonance cavities looked like they used to produce the sounds. That gives them a good idea on how they sounded.
