Onset of PC’s mid to late 80’s. Pads and smartphones slightly later. Instant gratification with little real social interaction.
its all the same as it ever was... is he after gov funding to talk out his arse.
Tech only greased the wheels. There was an attitude shift first.
I'm not US-bashing per se but I first noticed it in NZ with multiple fads and attitudes imported from the US. The mollycoddling started as "I'm a good parent, I'd better show it by not letting my kid be seen crying or wanting, and soon everyone was ashamed to not mollycoddle...it became trendy. Then of course, no kid was allowed to fail. Like graduation ceremonies, complete with mortar boards and capes for 6 year olds, FFS, is just one example. Grazed knee from falling off Little Princess's bike neccessitated a hospital visit, FFS. And so on.
Not US bashing, but I do blame this epidemic on the US....and it was all through TV.
