If I was in France I'd probably get the V6 version of a Peugeot 406 (preferably with false number plates ), because I have been in one and the driver flattened it. I know how scarily fast they accelerate and how well they handle in curves.
There is a very good reason they featured in a few gangster movies.

When my car was damaged by a German teenager in his dads Merc, I was given a courtesy car by the insurers.
The only car they had available was an Audi Quattro. No matter how hard I pushed it, or however bad the road conditions were, it was impossible to get it out of shape.
The Peugeot 406 is, like most French made luxury saloons, a compromise between handling and comfort.
