Tesla investors demand Elon Musk apologize for calling Thailand diver 'pedo'
Tesla CEO called immature after attacking Vernon Unsworth, who rescued trapped children
https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...and-diver-pedo
But did he? He did great, no doubt about it, in providing his maps and intitiating the call for the Brit dive team, but was he a scubaring member of the dive team that physically resued the kids?
There is no doubt whatsoever that if it wasn't for Vern, the outcome would probably have been different. Kudos, and thank goodness Vern was there.
But was he a diver? That question is crucial as to how valid his claims of Musk's sub were.
Earlier reports said he was a caver. Now, all media is saying he was a diver. I suspect one report at the start of this spat called him a diver, and all later reports followed suit and called him a diver.
@Maanaam ...the negative rep and expletive ridden pm were great, thanks for those, but I'm really waiting on you to verify the email conversation in your screenshots as you promised?
ps
You've already confirmed Vern was an integral part of the rescue, I'm just wondering which part of my quote mentions the word diver, all it says is: "Vernon Unsworth, who rescued trapped children" which you already agree with?

The media shouldn't be repeating and circulating the defamatory remark. It potentially opens them to action as well.
Musk has now apologised for the remark
Musk, who mistakenly sees himself as some kind of a cartoon superhero, flying off at a moments notice to save the planet, has apparently today offered a grovelling apology to a real human superhero.
Elon Musk apologises to British diver he called a 'pedo'
Elon Musk has apologised to the British diver he branded a ‘pedo’ in a Twitter tirade after he rejected the tech billionaire’s submarine idea pitched during the Thailand cave rescue.
Mr Musk launched an attack on Vern Unsworth, 63, who played a key role in the rescue of the 12 boys and their coach, in a since deleted tweet.
Taking to Twitter once again, Mr Musk said: “as this well-written article suggests, my words were spoken in anger after Mr Unsworth said several untruths and suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness and according to specifications from the dive team leader”.

Elon Musk did not launch an attack. He responded to an attack, probably over the top.
An apology sounds different.Taking to Twitter once again, Mr Musk said: “as this well-written article suggests, my words were spoken in anger after Mr Unsworth said several untruths and suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness and according to specifications from the dive team leader”.
An apology or retraction by Mr Unsworth is called for now.
This is the Elon Musk tweet. It is an apology, though it's likely insufficient if Vern wants to get paid for the original libel.

Nonetheless, his actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologize to Mr. Unsworth and to the companies I represent as leader. The fault is mine and mine alone.
Unsworth is a down to earth blunt speaking northener, not some grotesque yank with a gallon of botox in his face. "shove it up your arse" is actually a term of endearment to northeners.
An apology from him will not be forthcoming.
Hopefully that is a green light for the defamation lawsuit.Mr Musk continued, tweeting: “Nonetheless, his actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologise to Mr Unsworth and to the companies I represent as leader. The fault is mine and mine alone.
yes they can,
usually you resign to avoid a big clash at the board of directors,
they are going to put enough pressure on him for him to have no choice but go,
he just pissed on himself with that whole mini-sub story, the fool
I am sure there has been other incidents we don't hear about, probably internal, that the board knows about but been quiet about it, until they need to put pressure for his replacement
that process has already begun,

Can't see that if they're reporting from a third party source, but will defer to the expert. Interesting.
Wouldn't that mean by extension (and therefore only a matter of time) that media can be sued for publishing/broadcasting wrong information that directly of indirectly impacts negatively on a person or group? And by further extension, perception and hurt feelings?
I can see career litigants getting quite rich, and the rest of us having to pay for it.
The shareholders can replace him. But they won't. He is needed to keep Tesla moving forward.
Don't see how a media outlet can be prosecuted for libel for reporting what musk said on his twitter page, unless he didn't say what is being reported.
Nearly every media outlet is reporting the story so...
share price has got feck all to do with cave diving
